Dear Readers,
I’ve held you off for long enough. From all the e-mail I’m receiving, I know you’re anxious to hear about the next book. The bad news first... I’m not done writing it. Now the good news... This is the book so many of you have been waiting for. Ted’s book.
As in...Ted Beaudine. As in, “little Teddy,” the nine-year-old heartbreak kid from FANCY PANTS. As in, “young Ted,” the new college graduate in LADY BE GOOD. You were smitten. So was I. It was time.
Ted needed a heroine to fall in love with. Someone as completely wonderful as he was. Someone like Lucy Jorik, from FIRST LADY, who seemed to me like his perfect match. Yes. Definitely Lucy. Let’s plan the wedding.
Which is exactly what I did. And then I yawned. Never a good sign. These two are so mature. So smart. So completely together. So...boring. Something needed to happen to “un-perfect” Ted and Lucy. But what?
I set aside Ted’s Book (which is still untitled) while I tried to figure it out. Then, as I was writing WHAT I DID FOR LOVE, the most interesting young woman appeared.
Meg Koranda exploded into the room like a frisky young greyhound who’d been kicked out of obedience school so many times that her owners had given up trying to train her. In this case, her owners were her adoring parents, screen legend Jake Koranda and Fleur Savagar, the Glitter Baby, a woman who’d once been America’s most famous cover girl and who was now the powerful head of the country’s most exclusive talent agency.Meg was the little sister Georgie had always wanted, and Georgie loved her dearly, but that didn’t make her blind to Meg’s faults. Her friend was spoiled and impulsive, five-feet-ten-inches of good times, good intentions, good heart, and almost total irresponsibility in her quest to outrun her famous parents’ legacies....
Meg was just the person I needed to stir things up in the perfect world of Ted Beaudine and Lucy Jorik. I finished WHAT I DID FOR LOVE and began to write their book. Yikes! It didn’t take me long to figure out that I had two books. Lucy’s Book and Meg’s Book. (One of those is also “Ted’s Book.”)
There’ll be a Sneak Peek at Chapter One in the back of the paperback edition of WHAT I DID FOR LOVE, which will be in stores December 29, 2009. Until then, I’m not saying another word... Except... I’m having the time of my life!
