"what book got you started on SEP?"

The first SEP book I read was Nobody's Baby But Mine, and I was hooked from then on. A friend loaned it to me but even though I was in high school and was strapped for cash pretty much most of the time, I saved up to buy myself my own copy. Never regretted it too because I've read it like five or six times already. I also have a complete collection of her other works... I've been reading SEP for over a decade now.

what about you?

Heaven, Texas. It was the first romance I read in a very long time and was completely different from anything I've experienced of the genre before. And I just fell in love with this cocky, preening Texan and his Gracie Snow. I think NBBM came after that and I've lost track since. I do know that I read It Had To Be You after DALD and THOM, so I kind of went back to the beginning at the end there.

I got my mom hooked as well.

My first SEP book was MMIYC. Next came NBC. I was hooked. I next read Ain't. I say that Ain't is my favorite, but it seems to change to which ever book I'm reading at the moment.
I turned my boss onto the SEP books, and she is as hooked as I am.
As much as I love reading these books, listening to them is even better. Anna Fields was the best reader that I have ever listened to. She and her voice will be truly missed.

Me, too. It was recommended on a blog - romances with good dialogue. I still laugh out loud when I read 'I married a creal killer'.

The first SEP book I read was Honey Moon. I was 18 at the time and it took me all of 6 hours to read it. After that I bought Hot Shot and Fancy Pants, then every new book when it was released.

My all time favorite though is Ain't She Sweet, followed by a very close 2nd It Had To Be You. I can admit that I have not loved all of SEP's books but I do own at least one copy of all of them!

My first SEP book was THOM. I loved it. Then I had to go out & buy IHTBY so that I could find out Phoebe & Dan's story.

I love all of SEP's books, but THOM will always be my favorite.

My first SEP book was This Heart of Mine. I absolutely loved it. I kind of read the books out of order and didn't get to It Had to be You until I read nearly all the Chicago Stars books. *Whoops* My favorite is a toss up between THOM and NBBM. I love the dialogue and found myself trying not to laugh aloud in public places while reading each book.

The firt book I read was This Heart of Mine. It was recommended by a friend of mine. She asked me if I ever read any of SEP's books and I hadn't. I read that book in one night. It was unbelieveable and I didnt want it to end. So I looked up SEP that night, found her website and decided to read her books in the chronological order that she wrote them. I think SEP is a wonderful writer. I just finished What I Did For Love and it was yet again a great book. I highly recommend it.

My first SEP book was This Heart of Mine. It was actually my first romance book (other than teen romance). I needed a book for an airplane ride. Strangely enough, I was at an electronics store that had a few books. My mom randomly pointed out this book after seeing the cover and reading the back. I wasn't sure about it but decided to give it a chance. Let's just say that I LOVED it! From then on, it was my mission to buy and read every one of her books. : )

My first SEP book was Natural Born Charmer. I picked it up on a whim when I was away for a girls' shopping weekend and didn't have anything to read. I loved it and had to go out get all the others in the Stars/Bonner series, starting with It Had to be You. My favorite in the Stars/Bonner series I would have to say is This Heart of Mine, with Heaven, Texas a very close second. When I finished the Stars/Bonner series, I started making my way through SEP's other books. With the exception of Lady Be Good, I have loved them all (although I still haven't read Kiss An Angel or Fancy Pants). SEP is such an incredible talent. She has a way of creating this wonderful heroes and heroines and a story that draws you in and stays with you long after you finish the last page.

ahhh MMIYC. and I was hooked. I never read romances before and was so surprised at the witty dialogues and steamy sex. but Sep's full bodied characters are unparalleled.

I think I started with THOM. I had bought a bunch of books that summer and had them all in a pile. Then I think I read Aint I kind of read them all out of order. I had read several before I finally read HT. I started it about 11o PM one night. I was immediately hooked and can remember laughing out loud. I fell head over heals for Bobby Tom. He is still my number one favorite of all time of all the books I've ever read!

Nobody's Baby But Mine and then It Had To Be You. These two books just ruined me for any other authors (except for Linda Howard). I still haven't read any other author that is as good.

   It Had to Be You.

I kept seeing ads for the Chicago Stars books in the back of other books (Rachel Gibson?) and the premise just didn't interest me. At least the way that the ads read didn't make me want to read the books.

Over time, and poking around a view reviews sites and bulletin boards, I noticed that people kept referring to "SEP" like everyone knew who that was. I finally figured out "Susan Elizabeth Phillips" and if people could just refer to her by initials, she had to be pretty good.

So, I decided to start at the beginning of the Stars series and work my way through in order. I finished that a while ago. I've been working on the older books (just finished Kiss an Angel), but I still have to read Hot Shot, Honey Moon, Risen Glory/Just Imagine, Breathing Room, and the nearly unobtainable Copeland Bride.

Progress report: I read Breathing Room. Another SEP book where the blurb didn't appeal to me at all! Naturally, I loved it.

That has happened a couple of times with me. Sometimes the blurbs just can't convey how good the book really is going to be. I wasn't all that interested in "Ain't She Sweet" when I read the blurb, but I decided to try it anyway and it ended up being of my favorite SEP books.

Interesting about "Breathing Room"--I recently tried to read it even though I didn't care for the blurb, but I couldn't get into it.

Oh well.

My first SEP book was Match Me if You Can. After reading that book, I was immediately hooked and soon, I bought Heaven, Texas and This Heart of Mine. And now, I have around 10 books of SEPs and I am still reading it over and over again!

My first SEP book was Ain't She Sweet? I was at the library and I had just read Carly Phillips (her books were vibrant colored, so they caught my eye) After I read that one there I checked if there were any more, and then I saw Ain't She Sweet.
It took me, about three days to read it. I stayed up from like, 6 pm to 1 am reading on a friday. Then I went back and took out every single SEP book they had!! Which was Breathing Room, This Heart of Mine and as I was leaving, they had a book purchase area and it just so happened that Just Imagine was there. I read them all very quickly.
I've read Glitter Baby since and started the Stars Series. But I'm having trouble getting my hands on nobody's Baby But Mine.
I lovee lovee loveee SEP books!!

The first SEP book that I accidentally read in a bathroom is This Heart of Mine. You gotta love Kevin and Molly. But the first two SEP books that I owned is Nobody's Baby But Mine and Match Me if You Can. My favorite though is Natural Born Charmer and it may change because of Teddy. =)

The first SEP book I read was Fancy Pants. A friend recommended it to me. I began reading it and I was hooked! Since she'd already read all SEP's books, she gave me Lady Be Good next, and after that, the Stars/ Bonner series. I was able to read them in order, loved them all, and kept rereading my favorite parts over and over.

Since then, I've read Kiss an Angel, Breathing Room, and Ain't She Sweet. I have to tell you, I'm hard pressed to choose a favorite -- they're ALL so wonderful. However, I think Dream a Little Dream, Kiss an Angel, and Ain't She Sweet are at the top of my list.

I started with "Lady be good", in German "Kopfüber in die Kissen" and immediately I was fasczinated by this story. I had to buy me more and more books of Mrs. Phillips and now I`m addicted to it... I can`t wait for the next book to be released in Europe...

Match Me If You Can was the first one I read and i fell in love with it from the start. Anabelle was great and funny but Heath was the champion there with his personality and freshness. i really love all of the books i have read from this series and i am not done with them but i think that but Natural Born Charmer is and will be my favorite!!!

My first SEP book was Nobody's Baby But Mine. And now I've read all of them except The Copeland Bride. I love all of them, but if I have to pick an absolute favorite, it would be Ain't she sweet.

Well, I actually starting reading SEP books my sophomore year in high school. I was at the library trying to study and since I couldn't focus I decided I would check the romance novels, something I hadn't done ever.

I stumbled upon Ain't She Sweet? and fell in love with it. From then on I've bought all the SEP books. Now I have gotten my friends hooked on them too and we're all college students about to graduate.

Nobody's Baby But Mine was my first SEP book. Then DALD, followed by Heaven Texas. I must say That Heaven Texas is my favorite of the three. The Chicago Stars are a wonderful series.

Liked WIDFL, and just recently finished Glitter Baby after about three stops and starts. I find that I love Jake and Flower.

But Bobby Thom Denton is still my hero.

I think it was "This Heart of Mine." I read so many of hers so close together. That I am totally not sure, but I still love that one with Molly and Kevin. I know it's not politically correct, but I still love her sneaking into Kevin's room. I kept saying, "No she not, no she's not, oh my, she did! For those of you that haven't read that one. It's a great book.

The first book I read by SEP was What I Did for Love. I was looking for an interesting book to read, and I found it in the "New - Fiction" bookshelf at my local library. After that, I was hooked. I recently just bought Natural Born Charmer, and will probably buy more of SEP's book once school is over.

Hi angie, I'm also from the Philippines : ) My first SEP was It Had to be You more than a decade ago. It blew me away and I've been hooked ever since. I have a copy of every book she's written (well except Honey Moon which is hard to find)!

Hi there, this is my first post!!

When I was in Myrtle Beach last May I went to the little store in the hotel to get some candy, and I saw a book with a red cover out of the corner of my eye. I picked it up thinking it was just another cheesy romance novel, but I was pleasantly surprised. I bought Natural Born Charmer that day and never turned back. I fell in love with your books, and got a huge sunburn because I sat by the pool until I finished N.B.C. The next day I went to a strip mall and bought 6 more SEP novels, and they just got better and better! So, to sum it up (sorry for my rambling) I started my SEP addiction with Natural Born Charmer!

Mel

   Hi everyone!

So I have been trying to get back into the "reading in my spare time" mode, because I haven't been able to do that much. But I decided that I would reward myself with reading a book for fun after I read or did other homework from my grad school classes.

My mom told me about the Chicago Stars series and I have to admit, I was skeptical (being a Chicago Bears fan, I wasn't sure how it would work out). But she told me to start with "It had to be you"...

AND OH MY GOODNESS, I am HOOKED!! I have read all of the chicago stars/bonner brother books (except Heaven TX, but I am going to read that eventually) and I just loved them!

I am going to be starting "Breathing room" soon.

I am so glad that my mom referred these books to me! They are so clever and addicting!

I don't read "romance", per se -- the closest I get is chicklit (which I have a love/hate relationship with) and the Stephanie Plum novels. In fact, outside of Janet Evanovich, I don't know that I'd ever made it through a whole romance in my obsessive-reading life!

This is probably why I had no idea what I was getting into when I pulled the audiobook for "What I Did For Love" off the shelf of my local library. I was looking for something light and fun to listen to while I did my spring cleaning, and I don't think I even read the back of it (slim pickings that day, maybe?), I must have just gone with the title and cover, figuring it was some random chicklit author and I'd try her out. I remember being surprised to discover the protagonists were actors when I put it in the CD player.

I was so unprepared for how much I enjoyed it. It was just so much *fun*. And when it was over, I felt that itch that you get sometimes with books -- where even though you are finished the book, you still want more. So I decided to see what else the library had on audio. I picked up Natural Born Charmer about a week later, and loved that one even more than WID4L -- I was thrilled that April Robillard and Jack Patriot were in it, since they'd appeared in the first book I'd listened to, and I loved loved loved Anna Field's reading. Some of her line readings were so funny I had to pause the CD to recover.

From there, Dean lead me to Match Me If You Can, which led me to the rest of the Stars books. At first I was all "I don't want to read about football players!" -- but I find that even when I think, from the summary, that this will be a book I won't like, I'm always proven wrong. I'm on Nobody's Baby But Mine now, because I cannot resist reading the book that introduces Kevin Tucker. Even though the summary made me wrinkle my nose, I'm enjoying this one just as much as I've enjoyed the others.

I don't think that this experience has sold me on the romance genre, but it's sold me on SEP, and at the rate I'm going (8 books down, I think), I will probably be through her whole back catalogue by the end of the summer. I was actually laid off earlier this month, and with all the stress of looking for a job, the SEP novels are my therapy. They make me grin like an idiot -- not only because they are legitimately funny, but also because the characters are so well drawn and relatable, and the romances themselves *make sense*. My favourite at the moment is This Heart of Mine (also the last one I finished), and on the long list of things I loved about it, I have to put how much SENSE Kevin and Molly make as a couple at the top of the list. So satisfying.

Also, I love Daphne the Bunny more than I can say. The sentence "Daphne wiped her eyes on the strap of her electric guitar" gives me profound joy.

I'm ridiculously grateful I picked up that audiobook a few months ago. I honestly feel like I owe SEP a debt for being in such a good mood while looking for a job! She is honestly keeping my spirits up.

Hopefully I'll have a new job before I run out of books!

   *BUMP**

Is it okay to bump older topics? ^^;;

Anyways, I think it was either "Nobody's Baby But Mine" or "Kiss An Angel" that got me started on SEP. I don't remember which one of those two I read first... but ever since I read them I got hooked on SEP! LOL!! *yay*

My first SEP book was Fancy Pants - and it was a good 15/20 years ago! I absolutely loved it! But I didn't try to find out if SEP had written anything else, so it was only a couple of years ago that I suddenly thought of checking on Amazon for other books by her and have now been enjoying reading the others! I am reading Heaven, Texas at the moment.

I think Fancy Pants is still my favourite though.

My first book was Kiss an Angel which is my favorite book!!!!! I started reading her books last year but I dont remember when. All I know is I saw a case in the middle of wal-mart of her books and decided to check it out. Kiss an Angel and Match me if you can went home with me that day. I read them both and when I found out Natural Born Charmer came after Match me I went to go buy it. And it kept on going. I read in this order...

Kiss an angel
Match me if you can
Natural born charmer
Aint she sweet?
Lady be good
Hot shot
First lady
Breathing room
First lady
Nobody's baby but mine

All of those that summer. And since then I read...
It had to be you
This heart of mine
Fancy Pants
Honey Moon
Dream a little dream
Just imagine
Glitter Baby
What I did for love

I kept all my books in the order I read them on my shelf. I dont plan on changing that either lol. Whenever I remove one to re-read I put a peice of paper or a bookmark in its place so I wont change the order.

I started with What I Did for Love. I liked it so much that my aunt suggested that I read the Chicago Stars series. I was skeptical about reading a series about football players but I absolutely loved each book in that series. I then went on to read Ain't She Sweet and First Lady. After that I listened to Honey Moon and Hot Shot. Those two books had me in tears, and I am not a crier. Even if a book makes me feel sad, it is usually in a slightly detached manner. However, those two books absolutely broke my heart. There was a point in Hot Shot where I wasn't certain if I could keep reading because my heart was hurting so bad. Nevertheless, those two books have become two of my all-time favorite books. I recently finished Just Imagine and Kiss an Angel and absolutely loved them. I have a few more SEP books to read and I am definitely looking forward to them! I have loved each of her books and doubt I would be disappointed in the ones I have yet to read!

Mine was Dream A Little Dream. It was Thanksgiving here in Canada.
All the stores were closed. I read the first chapters on this site. My chest hurt & I had tears in my eyes. I remembered that the used book store was going to be open. I went there & thankfully they had it. I read it that day. I also got Kiss An Angel which seems to be a fave. I loved it but DALD will always be special to me. That little boy stole the story. Since then I bought the rest & read them in order but they are good as stand alones.

The first SEP book I read was KAA when I was 16. I've kept on all her books since then. And as my life has changed - marriage and now a baby - and I re-read these books, they take on so much more meaning. I love each book more every time I re-read.

Probably my favorite is This Heart of Mine. But I sincerely love them ALL.

Heaven, Texas was my first SEP. I was in 7th grade (I am now 28) in small town Georgia. My mom went to a co-workers yard sale where we ended up buying a couple boxes of books. We ended up with two copies, and I still have both. I recently have been on a SEP re-reading marathon. I cannot wait to read Ted's story, because I fell in love with him in Fancy Pants and Lady Be Good.

First book I read was KAA, that was about 6 or 7 years ago, since then I've read them all except one at least twice and have read KAA more like seven times. I'm hooked It seems I can't get enough every time I finish one I'm ready to pick up another. Although I need another good author to read any suggestions?

This is my first post on SEP's website so please bare with me. WID4L was the first SEP book I read. I am a junior in college, an during out winter break I was looking for a book other than a text book. I stumbled across WID4L and thought it looked interesting. Since then, I have read NATURAL BORN CHARMER, THIS HEART OF MINE, LADY BE GOOD, KISS AN ANGEL, and GLITTER BABY. As soon as I pick up one of her books, I find that I can't put it down. They are so interesting, funny, and romantic; everything I look for in a book. I used to read Nora Roberts' novels and I do enjoy them, but all of her books seem to run together and be the same. with SEP's novels, I laugh harder than I have ever laughed before. She makes the characters easy to realte to, and I thuroughly enjoy them.

I read a mix of genres, but when I read romances I tend to stick with historicals. But every now and then I need a break from the virgins in empire-waist dresses, so I was in the library one day looking for something fun. Since I'm not as familiar with authors who write contemporary romances, I wasn't sure what I was looking for. I am definitely guilty of judging a book by its title and/or cover. If it's an author I'm not familiar with, the book better have a good title/cover to grab my attention. And so it was with "Match Me If You Can." It looked like just the fun book I needed.

I managed to read all the Stars books out of order, so I ended up going back and doing a proper job of it and in fact just finished rereading MMIYC and "Natural Born Charmer" this week. I like the Stars series the best out of all of SEP's book (series and stand alones), and "Ain't She Sweet" is my favorite stand alone book.

I was visiting my cousin in Michigan back in 2002 when I read my first SEP book, it was It had to be you. I loved it and read it in a day. Then I came back home to Romania and forgot all about SEP until spring last year. In my defense I am not even sure SEP is published in Romania. SEP???DO YOU HEAR ME???ARE YOU PUBLISHED IN DRACULA LAND???? Anyway last year I was window shopping on iTunes for an audiobook and stumbled on Match me if you can which my dear boyfriend gifted it to me immediately. Upon the very first pages I recognized SEP's unique style and remembered that I have read one of her books before. I have fallen so much in love with her books that I've read all of them in less than two months. I own all books in audio format (thank you Michael) except Just Imagine and I plan to get them in paper format as soon as possible. I have only read SEP in English but when/if I will find the books in Romanian I will also buy them.In fact I am such a huge fan that I would probably buy SEP in Italian and Spanish and French (no Chinese I don't speak Chinese_)!!

The first book I ever read of SEP was First Lady and I loved it so so much! I was still a college freshman then and I had not read a lot of romance novels. Since then, I basically hunted all of her books. It was NOT easy, since I'm from the Philippines and back in college, ebooks were not popular yet. So I had to wait for the local bookstores to get stocks. I'd get so frustrated because the local release was usually months after the US release.

SEP creates very lively characters and her books have a lot of heart. I even find myself rooting for the other characters that annoyed me at first, (like Portia in Match Me if You Can, one of my favorite side stories, and Paige in Hot Shot).

I LOVE SEP!!! I can't wait to read Call Me Irresistible!!!

I believe it was Kiss An Angel. Initially, I was recommended with Nobody's Baby But Mine, however, I didn't get to it until after I read KAA, because at that time I was more interested in "arranged marriages" than "sports."

I got started with This Heart of Mine. I was hooked. lol it took me a few months to read the rest of her books with the exception to MMIYC and NBC which had yet to come out.

My favorite book is a toss up between THOM and Glitter Baby. . . this may or may not have to do with the fact that i'm also an Edna with a James Dean obsession. But i have no future plans to change my name. I rather like being the last of our kind. . .

The book that got me started on SEP was "Ain't She Sweet?". I was in a discount store with my good friend and I was at the bookshelf - of course - and I saw it there and thought...this looks like the most promising book in the entire shelf! I immediately started reading and got hooked almost immediately. There were some difficult parts to read because I wasn't used to SEP's particular style of writing. After reading her book, I researched her site and decided to get more books....then I fell in love. Best fiction romance writer ever!!!!

THOM. Made me lust after blond-haired, green-eyed men for months afterward.

My first SEP book was also Nobody's baby but mine, what a great book. I found that book searching amazon because I just bought a kindle and I was searching in contemporary romance and I found about that book by luck and I am so glad I bought it and read it. I have already read 4 SEP books and I cannot wait to read all of them. I just love each book that I have read from SEP.

Breathing Room was my first SEP book.
I was on holidays and was sick of reading about serial killers in the books I'd taken away with me. I wandered into the book department of a shop and Breathing Room jumped out at me.
As soon as I got home I tracked down the earlier books and have been devouring SEP's books ever since

I also started with Nobody's Baby But Mine. I was standing in the bookshop and there were only Vampire-storys or Fantasy-Thriller. Actually I was looking for one of Rachel Gibson's books, but instead found SEP. From the first page I was fascinated and since then had a lot of nice, relaxing evenings and weekends reading her books. And right now I am waiting for the last four of her books to be delivered

I'm pretty sure it was "Natural Born Charmer" on CD, unabridged. I'm not sure whether the cover caught my eye or what happened.
Since then I read every other SEP book at least twice.

Kiss an Angel was my first, and honestly I picked it up because the cover art grabbed me. When I first started listening to it I wasn't very fond of Kate Fleming, but by the 2nd chapter I was hooked. Now i've read and listened to all of them, I did have a hard time switching to the new reader.

My first SEP book was Fancy Pants. I just loved it, and I was hooked. Fortunately, my friend had already bought all SEP novels, so I was able to read them all in order. I love them all, but Dream a Little Dream is my favorite, followed, quite closely, by her newest book, Call me Irresistible.

My first SEP book was Glitter Baby. I was looking for something to read and my classmate happened to share the same book obsession as I did so she lent me the book. I've been hooked since.
