My first SEP book was THOM. I loved it. Then I had to go out & buy IHTBY so that I could find out Phoebe & Dan's story. I love all of SEP's books, but THOM will always be my favorite. Mary from Central Illinois |

My first SEP book was This Heart of Mine. It was actually my first romance book (other than teen romance). I needed a book for an airplane ride. Strangely enough, I was at an electronics store that had a few books. My mom randomly pointed out this book after seeing the cover and reading the back. I wasn't sure about it but decided to give it a chance. Let's just say that I LOVED it! From then on, it was my mission to buy and read every one of her books. : ) |

It Had to Be You. I kept seeing ads for the Chicago Stars books in the back of other books (Rachel Gibson?) and the premise just didn't interest me. At least the way that the ads read didn't make me want to read the books. Over time, and poking around a view reviews sites and bulletin boards, I noticed that people kept referring to "SEP" like everyone knew who that was. I finally figured out "Susan Elizabeth Phillips" and if people could just refer to her by initials, she had to be pretty good. So, I decided to start at the beginning of the Stars series and work my way through in order. I finished that a while ago. I've been working on the older books (just finished Kiss an Angel), but I still have to read Hot Shot, Honey Moon, Risen Glory/Just Imagine, Breathing Room, and the nearly unobtainable Copeland Bride. |

>>Progress report: I read Breathing Room. Another SEP book where the blurb didn't appeal to me at all! Naturally, I loved it.>> That has happened a couple of times with me. Sometimes the blurbs just can't convey how good the book really is going to be. I wasn't all that interested in "Ain't She Sweet" when I read the blurb, but I decided to try it anyway and it ended up being of my favorite SEP books. Interesting about "Breathing Room"--I recently tried to read it even though I didn't care for the blurb, but I couldn't get into it. Oh well. danfan

The first SEP book I read was Fancy Pants. A friend recommended it to me. I began reading it and I was hooked! Since she'd already read all SEP's books, she gave me Lady Be Good next, and after that, the Stars/ Bonner series. I was able to read them in order, loved them all, and kept rereading my favorite parts over and over. Since then, I've read Kiss an Angel, Breathing Room, and Ain't She Sweet. I have to tell you, I'm hard pressed to choose a favorite -- they're ALL so wonderful. However, I think Dream a Little Dream, Kiss an Angel, and Ain't She Sweet are at the top of my list. |

Hi there, this is my first post!! When I was in Myrtle Beach last May I went to the little store in the hotel to get some candy, and I saw a book with a red cover out of the corner of my eye. I picked it up thinking it was just another cheesy romance novel, but I was pleasantly surprised. I bought Natural Born Charmer that day and never turned back. I fell in love with your books, and got a huge sunburn because I sat by the pool until I finished N.B.C. The next day I went to a strip mall and bought 6 more SEP novels, and they just got better and better! So, to sum it up (sorry for my rambling) I started my SEP addiction with Natural Born Charmer! Hi everyone! So I have been trying to get back into the "reading in my spare time" mode, because I haven't been able to do that much. But I decided that I would reward myself with reading a book for fun after I read or did other homework from my grad school classes. My mom told me about the Chicago Stars series and I have to admit, I was skeptical (being a Chicago Bears fan, I wasn't sure how it would work out). But she told me to start with "It had to be you"... AND OH MY GOODNESS, I am HOOKED!! I have read all of the chicago stars/bonner brother books (except Heaven TX, but I am going to read that eventually) and I just loved them! I am going to be starting "Breathing room" soon. I am so glad that my mom referred these books to me! They are so clever and addicting! |

I don't read "romance", per se -- the closest I get is chicklit (which I have a love/hate relationship with) and the Stephanie Plum novels. In fact, outside of Janet Evanovich, I don't know that I'd ever made it through a whole romance in my obsessive-reading life! This is probably why I had no idea what I was getting into when I pulled the audiobook for "What I Did For Love" off the shelf of my local library. I was looking for something light and fun to listen to while I did my spring cleaning, and I don't think I even read the back of it (slim pickings that day, maybe?), I must have just gone with the title and cover, figuring it was some random chicklit author and I'd try her out. I remember being surprised to discover the protagonists were actors when I put it in the CD player. I was so unprepared for how much I enjoyed it. It was just so much *fun*. And when it was over, I felt that itch that you get sometimes with books -- where even though you are finished the book, you still want more. So I decided to see what else the library had on audio. I picked up Natural Born Charmer about a week later, and loved that one even more than WID4L -- I was thrilled that April Robillard and Jack Patriot were in it, since they'd appeared in the first book I'd listened to, and I loved loved loved Anna Field's reading. Some of her line readings were so funny I had to pause the CD to recover. From there, Dean lead me to Match Me If You Can, which led me to the rest of the Stars books. At first I was all "I don't want to read about football players!" -- but I find that even when I think, from the summary, that this will be a book I won't like, I'm always proven wrong. I'm on Nobody's Baby But Mine now, because I cannot resist reading the book that introduces Kevin Tucker. Even though the summary made me wrinkle my nose, I'm enjoying this one just as much as I've enjoyed the others. I don't think that this experience has sold me on the romance genre, but it's sold me on SEP, and at the rate I'm going (8 books down, I think), I will probably be through her whole back catalogue by the end of the summer. I was actually laid off earlier this month, and with all the stress of looking for a job, the SEP novels are my therapy. They make me grin like an idiot -- not only because they are legitimately funny, but also because the characters are so well drawn and relatable, and the romances themselves *make sense*. My favourite at the moment is This Heart of Mine (also the last one I finished), and on the long list of things I loved about it, I have to put how much SENSE Kevin and Molly make as a couple at the top of the list. So satisfying. Also, I love Daphne the Bunny more than I can say. The sentence "Daphne wiped her eyes on the strap of her electric guitar" gives me profound joy. I'm ridiculously grateful I picked up that audiobook a few months ago. I honestly feel like I owe SEP a debt for being in such a good mood while looking for a job! She is honestly keeping my spirits up. Hopefully I'll have a new job before I run out of books! |

*BUMP** Is it okay to bump older topics? ^^;; Anyways, I think it was either "Nobody's Baby But Mine" or "Kiss An Angel" that got me started on SEP. I don't remember which one of those two I read first... but ever since I read them I got hooked on SEP! LOL!! *yay* ****** Opps... I just realized I bumped an older topic too. ><" "One step backward does not mean you are defeated. It just means that you need to take a step forward again. But this time wiser." –unknown |

My first book was Kiss an Angel which is my favorite book!!!!! I started reading her books last year but I dont remember when. All I know is I saw a case in the middle of wal-mart of her books and decided to check it out. Kiss an Angel and Match me if you can went home with me that day. I read them both and when I found out Natural Born Charmer came after Match me I went to go buy it. And it kept on going. I read in this order... Kiss an angel Match me if you can Natural born charmer Aint she sweet? Lady be good Hot shot First lady Breathing room First lady Nobody's baby but mine All of those that summer. And since then I read... It had to be you This heart of mine Fancy Pants Honey Moon Dream a little dream Just imagine Glitter Baby What I did for love I kept all my books in the order I read them on my shelf. I dont plan on changing that either lol. Whenever I remove one to re-read I put a peice of paper or a bookmark in its place so I wont change the order. ~*~Boricua~*~ |

This is my first post on SEP's website so please bare with me. WID4L was the first SEP book I read. I am a junior in college, an during out winter break I was looking for a book other than a text book. I stumbled across WID4L and thought it looked interesting. Since then, I have read NATURAL BORN CHARMER, THIS HEART OF MINE, LADY BE GOOD, KISS AN ANGEL, and GLITTER BABY. As soon as I pick up one of her books, I find that I can't put it down. They are so interesting, funny, and romantic; everything I look for in a book. I used to read Nora Roberts' novels and I do enjoy them, but all of her books seem to run together and be the same. with SEP's novels, I laugh harder than I have ever laughed before. She makes the characters easy to realte to, and I thuroughly enjoy them. |

I read a mix of genres, but when I read romances I tend to stick with historicals. But every now and then I need a break from the virgins in empire-waist dresses, so I was in the library one day looking for something fun. Since I'm not as familiar with authors who write contemporary romances, I wasn't sure what I was looking for. I am definitely guilty of judging a book by its title and/or cover. If it's an author I'm not familiar with, the book better have a good title/cover to grab my attention. And so it was with "Match Me If You Can." It looked like just the fun book I needed. I managed to read all the Stars books out of order, so I ended up going back and doing a proper job of it and in fact just finished rereading MMIYC and "Natural Born Charmer" this week. I like the Stars series the best out of all of SEP's book (series and stand alones), and "Ain't She Sweet" is my favorite stand alone book. danfan |

The first book I ever read of SEP was First Lady and I loved it so so much! I was still a college freshman then and I had not read a lot of romance novels. Since then, I basically hunted all of her books. It was NOT easy, since I'm from the Philippines and back in college, ebooks were not popular yet. So I had to wait for the local bookstores to get stocks. I'd get so frustrated because the local release was usually months after the US release. SEP creates very lively characters and her books have a lot of heart. I even find myself rooting for the other characters that annoyed me at first, (like Portia in Match Me if You Can, one of my favorite side stories, and Paige in Hot Shot). I LOVE SEP!!! I can't wait to read Call Me Irresistible!!!

I got started with This Heart of Mine. I was hooked. lol it took me a few months to read the rest of her books with the exception to MMIYC and NBC which had yet to come out. My favorite book is a toss up between THOM and Glitter Baby. . . this may or may not have to do with the fact that i'm also an Edna with a James Dean obsession. But i have no future plans to change my name. I rather like being the last of our kind. . . Edna
