"WID4L - Casting for Meg Koranda"
 
   I've been thinking about this since the WID4L book signing (when SEP hinted that Meg could reappear in Teddy'd book)and I've gone back to the book to get descriptions of Meg, both in looks & personality.

"Meg Koranda exploded into the room like a frisky young greyhound who'd been kicked out of obedience school so many times her owners had given up trying to train her."

"I took the first plane out. I was at this fabulous ashram-totally isolated from the world-I even got head lice! But it was so worth it."

"Meg was a tall, slender reed who'd inherited her mother's large hands and feet, but not her mother's extravagant beauty. Instead, Meg had her father's more irregular features, along with his brown hair and darker coloring. Depending on the light, Meg's eyes were either blue, green, or brown, as changable as her personality"

With these descriptions, I keep picturing Maggie Gyllenhaal for Meg. See what you think:



I love Maggie's look and her personality. I think she's a great actress and I love the different characters she portrayed.

Anyone else have ideas on casting Meg?

   sorry, i don't think i can agree with you there. i pictured Meg to be a bit younger and a bit more exotic...

This is tough. I was thinking of Katie Holmes but her beauty is too sweet. Natalie Portman is too short. Cameron Diaz's personality matches but she's blonde. Can we dye her hair brown? =)

   The Hemingway girls (Margeau and Marielle) with their hair brown instead of blonde. When they were young and starting out in modeling. Big faces, long lean athletic bodies, but they were very pretty. They were like these two prized colts.

   I was thinking that Zooey Deschanel would be good in this role. She is a little bit dark, yet a little bit quirky. She was hilarious in Failure to Launch.

   If there ever were any movies based off SEP books, I would be happy with Anna Friel cast in ANY of the female leads. She's so charming!

I also thing maybe Ginnifer Goodwin would make a cute Meg. In the movies I have seen her in she seems a bit quirky and off beat, but capable for leading lady status.

I think this girl, would be GREAT, Her name is Emma Stone, she has done movies like, Zombieland, and Easy A, I Thinks she's gorgeous, and has a lot of personality!

I thought about this with the sneak peak of the book! It fits perfectly to me...Glamour

and NOT SO MUCH Glamour...XD

   When I started the book I had Zooey in mind but by the time I finished I had Emily Blunt stuck in my head. She became my Meg.

But I also really like Emma Stone, Zooey and Rashida Jones.

I'm going off the CMI description - short brown hair, olive skin, green/blue eyes, and Mandy herself is about 5'9/5'10 - so quite tall also. I'm going to picture her while reading CMI

I can't picture Hilary at all ...

Mandy Moore - yes in appearance but not in character ... It has to be somebody stronger ...

I think Maggie is not a bad choice ... She is pretty but not in the stereotipe and usual kind of way ... And she could pull it off, she has a huge hearty personality ...

   See, this is why I love doing these casting posts. It's really fascinating to see how differently everyone visualizes a character that is described in exactly the same way in each book, don't you think?
Especially because for me Mandy Moore doesn't fit my image of Meg at all. LOL!! Crazy, I know.

For me, when I read books, I can never put a concrete look to the characters. There's this fuzzy general idea I have about them, but it's not well-defined. But I would say that Natalie Dormer came pretty close to how I pictured Meg.

   Watching Christie Brinkley on GMA this morning, I saw a picture of Christie with her ex Billy Joel and their daughter Alexa Ray Joel.

I immediately mentally cast Alexa as Meg. (Only shorter.) She looks A LOT like Billy and her face isn't conventionally attractive, but she's still an interesting and pretty-in-an-indescribable way.
