"Chocolate cobbler"

Ingredients

1 C All-purpose Flour
2 t Baking Powder
1/4 teaspoons Salt
7 T Cocoa Powder, Divided
1 1/4 C Sugar, Divided
1/2 C Milk
1/3 C Melted Butter
1 1/2 t Vanilla Extract
1/2 C Light Brown Sugar, Packed
1 1/2 C Hot Tap Water

Preparation Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

First stir together the flour, baking powder, salt, 3 tablespoons of the cocoa, and 3/4 cup of the white sugar. Reserve the remaining cocoa and sugar.

Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla to the flour mixture. Mix until smooth.

Pour the mixture into an ungreased 8-inch baking dish.

In a separate small bowl, mix the remaining white sugar (it should be 1/2 cup), the brown sugar, and remaining 4 tablespoons of cocoa. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.

Pour the hot tap water over all. DO NOT STIR!

Bake for about 40 minutes or until the center is set.

Let stand for a few minutes if you can hold yourself back. Serve with vanilla ice cream using the gooey sauce to spoon over all.

I had to go to two stores to find cocoa powder. Such is the power of Pioneer Woman! I made this for dinner guests last night but then, in a miscommunication, a guest brought dessert!

I had it room temperature today (it was my duty to the BB after all). I think is it better warm, though still very good. I have the Blue Star Moms at my house Monday, and the hostess is responsible for dessert, so I'm going to try it again.

I happen to have cocoa powder at home from the cake, but I don't think I could handle chocolate cake and cobbler in the same month. I saw this and it looked fantastic though.

OMG! It's so funny you would post this recipe - when I was in University, our cafeteria would serve a cobbler every day. Monday's was chocolate. For some crazy reason I've been craving it, but had no idea how to make it or where to get the recipe. I wasn't even sure if it was a cobbler or just warm chocolate cake.

I'm so going to have to try to make this once I move into my new place

Just a quick note to anyone who makes this....DO NOT use Hershey's Special Dark cocoa powder. There was no chocolately taste to the cobbler just a warm slightly sweet tasting cake..
