"Ain't She Sweet Orzo Salad"

Does anyone know what is in the Orzo Salad in Ain't She Sweet? I remember reading it and thinking it sounded delicious. Now I'm drawing a blank as to what is in it!

I asked this same question a while back. I really hope someone knows. All I kept thinking while reading that book was, "Mmmm, I really want to try that salad!" I was hungry quite abit while reading Ain't.

I´ve checked Ain´t she sweet, and the Orzo-sallad is mentioned twice. (This is from my Swedish copy)

1. Orzo, fresh tomatoes, swiss cheese (I would use Gruyère, love it!) and home made garlic bread-croutons.

2. Orzo, hardboiled egg, tomatoes, pine nuts and avocado.

I would add some chopped red or green onion to both alternatives, some sallad, maybe ruccola and a vinaigrette dressing whith Dijon-mustard. (I guess it would be better if SEP answered this, not me...)

I also just realised I may have misunderstood what orzo is. I thought it was pasta shaped as big rice-grains. But when I googled it, I found out it is actually grains of barley (at least in italian). You can use either pasta or barley, but maybe barley is more healthy.

Malin (Sweden)

Malin...the one I have is a pasta. It almost looks like little rice though! I made my entire package not knowing how much it really made! I put feta, tomatoes, a little red onion, spinach (chopped), and then I also put in a hard boil egg white then I sprayed this balsamic spritzer over it. It was fantastic!! I have the rest of the orzo in a container in the fridge. I"ll have to use it throughout the week. I absolutely LOVED it!

Sorry! Haven't checked in for awhile. You can put whatever you like in. I usually do orzo, tomatoes, a little baby spinach, touch of onion, feta. Then I do a simple vinagrette--usually balsamic with 1/2 olive oil and 1/2 canola. I like a little sweetness to the dressing and will sometimes add a little honey. Or I use my wonderful fruit-flavored oils.

Thanks SEP. It was the first time I have ever cooked Orzo. I was curious as to why it was a little more expensive then all of the other pastas when it came in such a small package. After I cooked it I figured it all out. There is a ton.
