"WAYR: Non-romance Feb 2011"

Sometimes life is too short to read books that you don't enjoy - no matter how worthy.

I put down Black Swan Green by David Mitchell. I couldn't do it. It's one of those 'stream of consciousness' books that I struggle with (think Ulysses).

Have switched to Carson McCullers' The heart is a lonely hunter.
Poignant. Sad. Can't believe it was written in 1940 - it's themes of belonging and humanity and racism - still ring true.

What are you reading?

I've been reading Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. I have really enjoyed it. The only thing that bothers me is all the cussing, that I could do without, but I've learned to skip over it and I have loved them. I just finished the fourth one and after a short jaunt with Nora Roberts, I'll be picking up the fifth one. Thanks to whoever recommended these to me, it was on here someone suggested them. You're the best!

As I said on the WAYR thread, I'm reading One Day by David Nicholl, but I've been sick so I've had no reading done this week. Book club is tomorrow, and I doubt I'll have 200 pages read, but I did sneak a peek at the end (or rather read an online review that gave away the ending) so I'm good enough. I'll finish the book regardless, just not by tomorrow.

I've been in such a reading slump after CMI. The only book I've read after CMI is a re-read... of CMI . I need Lucys book!
Now I'm reading an excellent book by Aris Fioretos (swedish author) called "The last Greek" (not translated to english unfortunately, but if you read german, it is translated to german). We discussed it yesterday in my bookclub, but I still have 100 pages left to read. An amazing and wonderful book that cured my bookslump.

I've decided to expand my knowledge on marketing, so I took this one by Malcom McDonald and Martin Christopher from work.
556 pages of marketing. Better be good!

I never got past the first 100 pages when I read it for Popular Literature in college. More power to you.
