I won an ARC of this book. So, I read it. It comes out tomorrow. It's the first of a series. The first three books come out this month and the next two months and then there is talk about 3 additional books. I actually liked it. I'll give the second book a try though not sure if I'm in it for the long haul yet. It's about the secret world of paranormal creatures and how they have a ruling system of order. So, there are a handful of chapters setting up the universe and it does take awhile to realize who the main characters are, but at the bottom of it, there are vampires, shape-shifters, were-creatures, etc. Mostly, this one is about a vampire arrested for a murder (the penalty is death in this case) and the prosecutor who is human. Because the main heroine is human, a lot is explained through her experiences.
Anyway, part of the deal with the ARC, of course, is to get the word out so I am doing so. If you like this sort of thing, I'd recommend it. It's more mystery than romance though there are some hotter scenes towards the end and ends with a nice love story, but I found the intrigue more of a driving force through most of the book.
