"What are you reading August 1-7"
| |
Wow! Can't believe no one has started this yet This morning, I finished Kristan Higgins newest, All I Ever Wanted...very good! I always sort of dread starting her books, partly because they are written in first person (I prefer to get the hero's POV) and because she writes heroines that usually do something painfully embarrassing. But one once I start reading, I remember why she is sooo good...her heroines are delightfully REAL, not perfect women that make you feel inadequate, but rather women you'd know & befriend in real life. And KH writes first person POV books so well, she's one of the few authors that I will autobuy despite this!! I just started Lisa Marie Rice's newest book, Into the Crossfire. Also I've heard the story is very much like Midnight Man, since I loved MM, I don't think I'll mind in the least Also this week, I hope to start Suzanne Brockmann's newest, Infamous. Sort of hesitating about this one, though I love SB, because I've heard some mixed remixed reviews about this one. So...what are you reading this week?!?! LisaA in Washington state

I am still glomming Sherryl Woods. I just finished the Charleston series and I just started the Trinity Harbor series. I am listening to Fly Away Home by Jennifer Weiner. |

I haven't started this but as soon as I close the computer down i will. Want a break inbetween the JR Ward vampire books, just to retain my balance!! This is a first in a series. Looks sort of fantasy, which I quite like. And then again I guess vampires are fantasy too of a different kind. Kate New Zealand http://mistea.edublogs.org/ |

I started this book a few days and I am enjoying it. It took me a bit to get used to the first person viewpoint. Several characters have shades of Sam, Alyssa, Jules and Robin in my opinion. It takes place in current day with flashbacks to the 1800s. There is a bit of a paranormal aspect in it for me in regard to the first person viewpoint. I don't want to say more and ruin it for those of you planning on reading it. But give it a try. Jenny Missouri |

I don't quite understand the title yet, but I am loving this book, which is really exciting because it's part of a series which gets really great reviews at Romantic Times, and it also means I'll have a fairly long backlist of new books to read. Yay! Here's a description of the book: Violet Redmond's family and fortune might be formidable and her beauty and wit matchless—but her infamous flare for mischief keeps all but the most lionhearted suitors at bay. Only Violet knows what will assuage her restlessness: a man who doesn't bore her to tears, and a clue to the fate of her missing brother. She never dreamed she'd find both with a man whose own pedigree is far from impeccable. "Savage" is what the women of the ton whisper about the newly styled Earl of Ardmay—albeit with shivers of pleasure. Born an English bastard, raised on the high seas, he's on a mission to capture a notorious pirate for vengeance. But while Violet's belief in her brother's innocence maddens him, her courage awes him . . . and her sensuality finally undoes him. Now the man who once lost everything and the girl who has everything to lose are bound by a passion that could either end in betrayal . . . or become everything they ever dreamed. While on the plane ride to Orlando I started A Summer in Sonoma by Robyn Carr and was luck to meet her and she signed my book also. I just could not put the book down --it was a really terrific book that is a stand alone and not related to her Virgin River Series. I thought it was a great read. Next up is a new to me author Shiloh Walker. Hali Queens(1 of the 5 Borough's of New York City) |

I finally finished Suzanne Enoch's Flirting with Danger and am so in love with Rick this second time around. Looking forward to finally reading the rest of the series, now that I've finally re-read the first book. Luckily, I had it with me in Orlando and I got it signed by SE Laura, Lissette (seppie-to-be), and I listened to the abriged version of Can You Keep A Secret by Sophia Kinsella and LOVED it. I usually hate chick lit, but this was a great audio read. I usually prefer reading a book first before doing the audio, so this was the first time I did the audio first. Since we heard the abrigded version, I must get my PB copy back from my SIL and read the whole thing for myself. Started Kristin Higgin's The Next Best Thing, which was bought at the RWA's literacy signing. So far so good. I know a lot of people had issues with the heroine getting together with her BIL, but I'm loving the dynamics between the hero, heroine, and her dead husband. |
