Hi ladies I just finished Dead Center, a mystery by David Rosenfelt. This is part of a series featuring a lawyer named Andy Carpenter. Now I'm listening to The Guest List by Fern Michaels. I guess it could be classified as romantic suspense. I'm not far into it yet but liking it so far. So what are you all reading? Becky from OH |

3. "JoAnn Ross and Susan Andersen"

After reading that JoAnn Ross' new book The Homecoming is very loosely linked to her High Risk series - i.e it features ex-SEALs, I finished reading the series. I had read the first two but since i found the second one very slow i had put off the rest. The thirs and fourth were good though (Shattered and Breakpoint). I am going through a strange reading period and have found myself picking up books and putting them aside after some chapters. This happened with Julia London's Highlander Unbound. The writing was okay. I didn't like how the story was developing though. Read Meg Cabot's Every Boy's Got One - a quick read. Now have Susan Andersen's Skintight - that Nancy sent me for my brthday - to start while the girls are at swimming lessons. Luci Malta |

I just got around to reading this (after working my way through all the other Outlander series books and some of the Lord John's) and is it just me or is this book b-o-r-i-n-g??? All the others were so fast pasted, full of action and just non stop going from one thing to another...this one just seems to be going over stuff from the past books and the new stuff is moving very slowly. I'm over half way through it, but so far it just isn't doing much for me. I kept putting off downloading it to my Kindle till I caught up on some of the other new releases of books till I was ready for something exciting..well so far I'm really dissapointed. Is it just me? I'm thinking of taking a break and downloading the new Nora Roberts the Search then going back to the Echo. ~~LighthouseLady~~ East Coast of Central Florida |

I am finding it a bit hard to remember back, but I know I did enjoy it. Not as fast moving as some of others, but then I thought some of them were too fast moving and too much happening! I think though that I am okay with a 'slow' book, doesn't get to me. And what was happening was enough to hook me. Will be interesting to know what you think once you do finish it. Lynda, I really liked this book. I liked the theme of mortality as she explores it from so many angles. The younger generation is much more a focus in this story. I did have to resort to a map more than once to understand all the Revolutionary references. It has inspired me to plan a trip to the Hudson River Valley next fall and we will visit Saratoga. As far as fast moving vs slow moving. Watch out. The second half of the book is very fast paced, one could even say explosive. Patricia G |

Kate, The Ocean Between Us is an all time favorite of mine. I had read it when it first came out in 2004, then traded it in at my used bookstore. Four months later son tells us he's going to the Naval Academy! I had to buy a copy to keep. I'm tempted to get an autographed copy of the new re-release and hold onto it in case there ever is a daughter-in-law. I'm not reading anything right now and really need a happy book. Patricia G |

Forgot to say I read Dark Lover over the weekend. I know there is a big following by many of you of her books. I decided I needed to challenge myself to read at least one. I am not sure I really enjoy vampire books, and not even sure about it after finishing this one. However have ordered the next one and got the 3 after that cheap, so who can resist! I read some of your chat in another posting (yeah, I am into reading spoilers especially on books I am unsure about) it was enough to encourage me to journey on. I felt a bit self conscious going into the local shop to buy the cheap 3, (others I ordered online). I was worried about what the lady in the shop was thinking of a 60 year old buying such books!! I just took a deep breath and marched right on in! Kate New Zealand http://mistea.edublogs.org/ |

Thanks April and Dawn for the encouragement. I am waiting for No. 2 to arrive. I think I am pretty happy chasing up all the past comments and keeping them in mind. As I said I had a quick read already of them and they enticed me to persevere on, despite my dislike of all things vampire! I guess good writing helps overcome such dislike! The blood drinking makes me a bit squeamish!! But hey its fantasy. Kate New Zealand http://mistea.edublogs.org/ |

13. "Lauren Dane, Jess Granger"
In response to message #0

Last week, I read Lauren Dane's Relentless and liked it a lot, so I read Laid Bare and Coming Undone. Loved them both. This is erotic romance where the plot isn't an excuse for endless sex scenes. It's very hot, yes, but moving too (I'll admit I got a little misty-eyed reading the 3 of them). I can't wait for Inside Out, her next contemporary about the Brown family and friends and I will definitely check her backlist. Now, I'm reading Jess Granger's Beyond the Shadows, the 2nd in her SciFi series. I'm enjoying it so far. Linou France |

Laid Bare was a bit out of my comfort zone but I'm >glad I gave it a try.Dang Linou, I was really hoping you had! Its not that I have anything against ebooks. Its just that when I had the ebook reader craze it wasn't guaranteed that they would work with our voltage. Now that they are internationally available I do not have the financial stability for it. I am starting a new job in September so maybe next year I might be in a more comfortable position. I had looked for readers when we were in London and Spain but then just sort of gave up. I have lots of ebooks on my laptop that I unfortunately never get around to read becasue i read in bed and reading on the laptop in bed is waaay uncomfotable and too much like work. I have read SEP's NBC on my husband's PDA but it involved converting files and stuff - couldn't get the hang of it. Will keep Lauren Dane within my sights though. i recently downloaded a free ebook called The Tempest - and i still haven't read it for the reasons I mentioned above.

22. "Rose Lerner"
In response to message #0

I finished Susan Andersen's Skintight thanks Nancy!! and enjoyed it. I have Just for Kicks in my piles so I will soon follow this book up. Next I am so so glad I picked up Rose Lerner's In For A Penny. I bought it after i read a couple of good reviews and have been hesitant to try it - especially after reading a few books I bought after great reviews that just didn't work for me. Yesterday night I couldn't sleep - had just opened the electricity bill and gotten the shock of my life. So when i finished Skintight I was wondering what to read next. I picked up a medieval but put it back. I needed something that really grabbed and kept my attention. Then i picked up In For a Penny and i admit, I am only three chapters in but I already found it difficult to put down to get to work. First off its not full of characters thinking this and then thinking that and then thinking the other and so on. It also doesn't have characters being secretive to each other. There is total honesty from page one and that is indeed refreshing. Plus I am enjoyig the writing. of course its still early days so I hope the rest lives up to the beginning. Luci Malta |

31. "RE: Heather Graham - Ghost Shadow -Karin Slaughter?"

Hey Dee, have missed you here! I recently read a KS book and thought of you because i remembered your posts when Beyond Reach was published. So in answer to your question about Karin Slaughter. Some of her books have the very annoying IMHO characteristic of having different US and rest of the world titles. So Beyond Reach was SKin Privilege here and i had pre-ordered it and it was more expensive than normal hardbacks. Before i could read it I had read your post about it here and went on to read the spoilers. And I am glad i did because if I had read the book then got to the last page I wouldn't have been able to sleep for a week in shock i am sure. JT was my favourite character in that series - which is strange for me considering he was a cheater. Loved his character. Anyway, i sold my copy and did not know whether i would read her anymore. Then i bought her second in the Will Trent series - Fractured - because i had enjoyed Triptych so I thought i could give it a try. After a long time in my pile i picked it up and gave it a chance. I gave myself till the end of chapter 1 and decided that if it didn't grab me i would put it down. But that's exasctly when it grabbed me - end of chapter 1. I am glad I read it as it brought back how much i loved her writing style. So if i were you I would read that by her first before you go on to read th elast two as it will help you get to know Will Trent more as in the following books there is Will Trent besides Sara Linton. After Fractured she wrote Genesis (which is called Undone in the US). I have this one in my pile but from what I understand, it is set in Georgia and its a Will Trent book but in it Sara Linton is reintroduced. Her latest book - the one in hardback out now, that is called Broken is a Grant County book. It has Sara Linton in it and she calls in Will Trent's help. It also has Lena which is where i am not so happy as i never like Lena. I do not know if KS will try to give Sara a new love interest and i don't know if that would work well, but in my mind it would be extremely difficult to trump Jeffrey 'sex on a stick' Tolliver. 28. "Creation in Death and Lorraine Heath"

Another wondeful book albeit a bit gruesome at times. I REALLY don't like those parts! I'm getting a little nervous because I'm nearing the end.... Last week I read a beautiful book by Lorraine Heath called Always to Remember. It was very different and very moving. I am not an American historical romance reader but this Civil War book was excellent.
