"New Author Friend"
 
   Hi Guys:

I have a huge brag to post about. Recently I befriended romance author Jacquie D'Alessandro (http://www.jacquied.com/) on Facebook. When I added her as a friend, I included a personal message about how that I love her novel Red Roses Mean Love to the point that it is a desert island keeper. She added me as a friend and sent me a note back stating that if I would give her my address she would send me an autographed copy!!

But wait, it gets better: She sent me a personalized copy of the book, a very sweet note, two autographed bookmarks for me, and a stack of autographed bookmarks for my friends!

But wait, it gets even better than that: I sent her a thank you note for my bounty and suggested that maybe if she comes to my area we could meet up for coffee or dessert. Guess what, she sent me back an email about how that she comes to my area because her son goes to school here, and that we need to plan something for February!! Wow, I'm in seventh heaven!!!

I've had that experience and it really is fantastic, isn't it? It's like interacting with a celebrity. Enjoy!

I read her debut novel awhile back, but I haven't read any since. I did enjoy the book though.

   that's really super sweet of her! One thing that seperates authors from other types of celebrities is that they want more than just fans in their lives, they want to make friends too. So excited for you! Let us know how the private meeting goes. In the mean time, I'll go check out your book recommendation. DIK recs don't come by all that often

   Michelle, that is just lovely! I love hearing stories of authors who are just naturally generous with their time and are thoughtful toward their reader fans. I don't mean just by giving you things, but the time to send a message even in email and to actually be as gracious in real life as they appear in their PR endevours. That's just lovely! I'm going to have to pick up some more of her books, just because she sounds like someone I think I'd like.
