"Caf Anon"

I have been caffeine free for 3-wks and 2-days. Yah me!

Although I did have two mugs of Darjeeling tea during the week, they are nothing near to my usual strong Prince of Wales tea I used to brew, let alone the coffees and cola drinks I would consume by the mug and litre on a daily basis.

Yeah you! Has it made a difference with the sleeping and the headaches?

Absolutely! I now sleep six to eight hours a night, whereas before I would sleep two or three hours before waking and then struggle to get back to sleep once again.

I didn't seem to suffer much by way of headaches from the caffeine withdrawal, but I was sick during the first four days with another ailment which may have helped mask the effects of caffeine withdrawal. It was actually the being sick which helped get it all started, while home in bed I didn't have any hot drinks. When I realised that, I figured I may as well continue not having any and sure enough, just over three weeks later, not a craving in sight.

I do confess to having a decaf coffee today at lunch and I found it too strong in taste. LOL! This coming from someone who would have an extra espresso shot added to her normal coffee.

I'm proud of you Jewls! I'm not much of a coffee person so I don't get people like my mom who can't think before they had a cup of coffee, but good for you. Welcome to the world of caffeine free people

Just a little fact about coffee: we had a client who was in the coffee business and we had to do a research about different kinds of coffee and the percentage of caffeine in each. It turned out that all of those coffee mixtures that are in form of granules (like nescafe classic) don't have any caffeine in them. They give the placebo effect. You think the coffee will help you wake up, when it is your mind's "mistake" that awakes you.
Only espresso and "Turkish" coffee are the ones that really kick in with the caffeine.

I wonder how ground coffee used in a coffee plunger would rate? Interesting facts though! But even knowing it is a placebo effect, I'm still not going back to drinking coffee. Decaf only if I do want the coffee taste and only then when I'm out for dinners or lunches.

Yeah you! Good luck with non-caffein life!
If you like tea, have you tried Roiboos-tea? I think it is caffein-free. And it makes you feel like you're in The no 1 Ladies Detective Agency with Mma Ramotswe .

If anyone tries to pry my cup of coffee out of my clenched fist first thing in the morning, there will be hell to pay.
