"My Showstoppers concert was wonderful!"
 
I haven't posted much because I've had 2 graduations, reports cards, a 3 night Showstoppers concert (my adult show choir of 22 adults) and we're packing up the house to move in 2 weeks!

Anyway, here is my solo: Jerusalem of Gold. The first night I completely blanked on the English verse so I smiled and made up words. I must have repeated the word "Jerusalem" 18 times! This video is from Saturday night where I remembered all the words... in both English and Hebrew!

BTW, the gorgeous silver top was $3 from Salvation Army, the satin pants $6, and the shoes $8!!!

Oh Lynne that was beautiful! I could sit and listen to you sing all day long.

And I loved the outfit...can't believe you put it together for that price...looks like a million$$$ on you!

Terrific. You look great!

I forwarded the link to my son who is studying advanced Hebrew this summer. It's a great way to study a language, to try to understand song lyrics.

Dumb Mommy. He's studying ancient Hebrew....

Not so dumb, Mommy. I've studied both and there is not a huge difference...mostly the vocabulary and some grammar.

Actually, the history of this song is amazing. It was written in 1967 when parts of Jerusalem, including the Western Wall, were forbidden to Jews due to the Independence War of 1948. Naomi Shemer wrote this song about how "we no longer can pray at the Wall" (paraphrasing here). She sang it in a song festival and 2 weeks later Israel fought the 6 Day War and reclaimed Jerusalem. As the soldiers entered the area of the Wall, they began singing this song. Later, she rewrote the words to reflect that now Jews can once again pray at the Wall.
