Okay, I know you guys are getting tired of this but DS2 is spending July-September at CERN and is living on the border of France and Switzerland. He'll be doing everything from hands on repairing of machinery to computer simulation. During that time, he'll go for two weeks to the Black Forest area of Germany for a training session. This is funded and set. When he gets back, he's got the funding to go to Italy and work with their CERN team for a month. What a summer this kid from New Plymouth, Idaho (population 1200) is going to have. He's done teaching and taking classes and now just has to write his dissertation. Minor piece, huh! That's fantastic Steph ! The CERN is such a big deal, he must be super excited to work there ! A friend of mine did his translation internship in their Geneva center last summer and had a blast. Everyone was very nice and the job was very interesting. I hope he'll have a great time there.
I'd say this will be the time of his life but he keeps coming up with more amazing things to do and his girlfriend is doing her dissertation on ancient Islam so she spends a lot of time in Africa and he visits her there. He gets to spend time in the old villages learning the old ways while she interviews the elders. I think he'll end up doing things I can't even imagine. Steph in Oregon
