"book covers"

does anyone else feel the books with the groping couple are a turnoff? i just finished It Had To Be You..loved it...but i had an old copy which had title, SEP name and a gold cupid, and a critic by Jayne Ann Krentz...........i saw an updated cover and i would have passed it by because it looked cheap, i wouldn't have bothered looking for the authors name. a pair of boobs and a lace bra was not a class look..women writers deserve better covers

Readers really haven't liked that cover. I have to take the blame because I okayed it. I just thought it said so much about Phoebe, a woman defined by her breasts. I'm thinking the symbolism didn't work as well for others as it did for me!

is that the one where there is a necklace between her "girls"?

I liked that one better than the one with poodle and a boot.

But I adored the cover for NBC, red one with girl in a blue dress.

When I bought that book, the only one they had in stock was the 15 or so dollar one with the dog and her boots on it (which is ADORABLE if I do say so myself). However, everytime I go get a new book, I see the other version and I must admit that if I had decided to get that one, I would have been embarrassed to buy it because of the cover. I saw the symbolism and it made me laugh because I knew what everyone thought Phoebe was all about, but I agree that it would have made me wary to buy it....until I found out how great SEP's books were...then I would have bought it anyways

I have the copy of "It Had to be You" featuring the breasts in the lacy bra and while I understand why that cover was chosen, I was embarrassed to be seen buying it (and I'm glad the cashier was female at least!). It's not a book I read in public because I don't want people getting the wrong idea.

I agree--the genre as a whole deserves more dignified covers. I've never understood why so many feature headless models.
