"Favorite secondary romance"

Which is your favorite secondary romance in any of SEP's books?

I just loved the courtship between Cal's parents, Jim and Lynn Bonner, in NBBM. It had tears streaming down my face. Heart-warming and beautifully written.

It's hard to choose for me (as usual). Bodie and Portia are obvious as we approach the 4th of July. But I love Liam and Lily. And of course Ethan and Kristy almost should have had a book of their own. And who could forget Winnie and Ryan- they were very well written.

Nope- can't choose...

Charmaine and Darnell, they didn't take up too much time, but I still really thought SEP did a good job drawing them up, and I love the dynamic of the quite little church girl dominating the big tough football player, and they are both so sweetly writen.

That's only because you haven't read the ones with the best secondary romances! And especially if you like Charmaine and Darnell you should finally read MMIYC! (Gosh, I feel like I'm wasting my breath... )

Good question and very hard to choose. Now I'll have to re-read all of the books only for the 2ndary romances(LOL). All that have been mentioned so far were excellent. I think the 2 that stick out the most right now is Torie and Dex and Portia's story from MMIYC.

I liked Harry and Tracey from BR - they were so endearing and neurotic and real, with all their hang-ups, misunderstandings, and genuine care and affection for themselves and their children. Once Isabelle got through with them I just couldn't help but think that there was no way they wouldn't make it. They just seem to stick with me for some reason.

Although it is a very tough decision, I think I have to go with Portia and Bodie. I do like Kristy and Ethan as well, but I have a soft spot for Portia and her blue Smurf face, when she tells Bodie she is scared all the time and that she loves him.

Yeah I know it isn't one of the older books, but the question was
"Favorite secondary romance?" Right? So I think Jack and April are fantastic it's the always have and always will typ of LOVE, doesn't everyone think that's great??
The Bonner thing was really good too, all those wild women in one house teaching their men a lesson. Fantastic!
...and breathing room very well done....

What book are Ethan and Kristy from? I feel like I should remember them, but I don't.

Anyway, my favorites are: Ryan and Winnie (AIN'T)

I think I liked them better than Colin and Sugar Beth. I did like them, of course, but Ryan and Winnie held my attention and heart in this one.

Ethan and Kristy are from DALD. Me, I don't think they ever resolved the problem of Ethan taking Kristy for granted, so they can't take first place on my list. That said, they do have one of the funniest quotes in all of SEP:

He gazed up into the beautiful, intent eyes of his virgin bride. "Let me know if I'm scaring you."
"Shut up and take off your pants."

My vote is for Jim and Lynn Bonner. Somebody wrote that true romance is about pain, and they had so much pain between them. The "Cookie Girl" scene is so painful and so humiliating for Lynn. At the same time, I can see Jim as a slightly insecure young man just sort of freezing up. I could believe that he could love her, but still be a little embarrassed by her.

It's Lynn's response to her life that's so powerful. She decides that she's never going to be a source of embarrassment to him again, and she succeeds in doing so only too well. Jim's punishment is that he destroys what he loves most about her.

I really liked the "difficulty" between Way Sawyer and Suzy Denton in HT. I loved how much he loved Suzy and that he had always loved her..in one way or another. Their pain made me want to cry like in "Tristan & Isolde" when they can't be together..kinda.

I also really loved Jim and Lynn Bonner. They were so realistic to many couples that I know....including that of my mother and her husband Gary who is not a very nice person in my opinion....so I doubt he would step up like Jim had and grow a pair. That being said...I loved Jim for that. I most enjoyed the stories about how they were just kids trying to be parents..even though he didn't really love-loved her at first...you could tell he cared for her. He was just confused that's all. The passion they had was unforgettable...and you'd think Cal would have learned a thing or two from them instead of blowing his cool several times with Jane. *sigh* such a good book.

Torie and Dex come to mind first. I'm such a push-over for the strong nerdy type! I'm hoping they will make an appearance in "Call Me Irresistable", since Dex and Ted were friends.

Bodie and Portia are my second faves. Yes, Rox who can forget the Peeps!

I can't decide. I love several of SEP's secondary romances. But to name a few:

Ethan and Kristy
Ryan and Winnie
Jim and Lynn Bonner

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I don't like the technique of incorporating secondary romances. They take away from the main couple IMO, and usually I just don't have anything much invested in the secondary characters. Ryan and Winnie, especially, annoyed the crap out of me. "Ain't" is my favorite non-Stars book, but I now have to skip over all the Winnie and Ryan stuff because I want to slap her most of the time.

I'm also not crazy about using a character's parents as the secondary romances (i.e. "Nobody's Baby But Mine" and "Natural Born Charmer"). Creeps me out for some reason.

Again, I know I'm in the minority but I just wanted to offer a different opinion.

   Hello!
i'm the new girl here
I have a hard time deciding from three secondary couples so I'm gonna say it's a three way tie also.
Jim and Lynn Bonner, Winnie and Ryan and Tori and Dex.
The secondary couples in the other stories are also great but these just stuck with me.

I like Jack and April, April's story was pretty sad and then it just turned out wonderful.

I think I need to go back and read some of my SEP books again, I didn't remember half of these people, but I've been off on other authors recently and need to review all of my books with Ted in them before the new book comes out!
