I felt this earthquake, but didn't think anything of it and rolled over and went back to sleep. Exhausted after week at work I had quiet day at home reading. So imagine my surprise when I turned on 6pm news to see the damage this earthquake has caused. Only 2 seriously injured. But heaps of home and infrastructure damage and plenty of shocked people. I think Lanie is Wellington. I am just north of Wellington so just got a gentle prolonged roll. Kate New Zealand http://mistea.edublogs.org/ |

The fact it was 4 am ish in the morning meant many people were not in the main CBD where there was a lot of falling masonry. So the time helped, if people had been in the streets would have been deaths. Its amazing all the same. I have decided I have to get my emergency kit gathered. I don't have any gas alternative cooking etc. So must up my game. Kate New Zealand http://mistea.edublogs.org/ |
