"not good news"

Owner came in today and gave us until the end of SEPT to bring in at least 10K or he is shutting us down. Ironically our huge grand opening celebration is SEPT 10. So, then we kick off our opening then close down 3 weeks later? What is wrong with people? Is he crazy?

What kind of knuckle-head is this guy?????? Seriously, does he not have any sense at all???? Everyone knows it takes more then that to get something off the ground. So sorry, Dawn, that you are caught up in this. Cheryl St. Charles, Missouri |

I must have missed this - didn't realize you were opening a new business. Congratulations! As for your landlord, may I say, what a jackass??!!! by any chance did you have a lease to protect you from this kind of racketeering? if not, is it too late to change your location and move somewhere else? what about converting a part of your home as an alternative? Sorry, this totally sucks!! Sending you white light that you figure out a solution that reaps you a lot of success |

Dawn, I'm so sorry for this stress. Do you think he is really undercapitalized to start the business? Saying you will shut down before you even have the grand opening is ludicrous. Could this be just "his style." Yuck. Wishing you the best. Patricia G |

I am not the owner, there is an off site behind the scenes owner. And in the office? just the two of us. We opened on JUNE 27th but that wasn't even offical because we didn't have business cards or any of our marketing materials to GO OUT AND SELL. We are a marketing, web, design, company. Basically doing any and everything you need to promote or market your business.
We have only been opened 2 months and already he has been coming in everyday saying this past few weeks " this just isn't working I thought we would have all kinds of business being in the building. we might have to close" It is located in the largest building in our downtown area. He assumed we would just open the doors and people would just come running in buy the droves and is only giving this 3 months he said. Which to me is JUST BEYOND insane! WE have been networking and relationship building and have had several projects and more on the line. So I am happy with the amount we have coming in when you consider we just OPENED! This guy is stupid! And not giving it a chance. I mean we are having this HUGE grand opening then we are going to close 2 weeks later? That doesn't even give people a chance to call us back! I told the other girl I work with that he if does in fact pull the plug we should just take the clients and do the work on our own out of our homes... But there is so much risk and stress in that. Hoping not to have to go that way but I guess it is all we can do. I mean you may all remember I did that for 5 years and I HATED IT ! Thank you to all for your support.

Dawn, so sorry to hear this. It sounds like the owner is undercapitalized and/or planned the start-up costs/profits unrealistically, especially in this economy. It takes time to have a marketing plan work, establish a customer base, reputation, etc. Sending hugs and white light. Pam Near Cleveland, OH |
