"Boo!"

So, how ya going? What ya been up to? Just had the need to chat with everyone and to hear how you're all going. Good, bad, indifferent. How is everyone? I'm reading like crazy. I haven't read so many books back to back, like this, in probably a year or two. And I am loving it! Having gone through a reading slump last year and for the first few months of this year, it is a welcome change. My DS has a birthday in a few weeks time and we have an extra long weekend planned to spend time together. Not in the fashion of SEP and Lil Sis, but in our own fashion its going to be a lot of fun. One of the items on our to-do list is a Pride & Prejudice marathon, in celebration of DS birthday, which she shares with Mr Darcy himself, Colin Firth. It is freezing down here at the mo' with our cold front coming directly from the south pole. Unimaginably cold. This is Melbourne, we're meant to be cool, but this is freezing! I now know I would not survive a US winter where you have to shovel snow from your walkways and driveways. Right, before I waffle on too much (oops, too late), I'll hand the Boo! post over to someone else to add to. |

Hi Jewls! (DS=dear sister?) Your birthday-weekend seems excellent to me. I also love BBC-version of Pride and Prejudice, seen it lots of times. It's not only the lovely romance, but also the atmosphere, the witty dialogue, the hilarious caracters (Mr Collins, Mrs Bennet) that I enjoy so much. I want to see it right now, but I haven't got the time unfortunately. Last week, youngest son started Kindergaarten. He thrives there, wich is a relief to us. From September, both my husband and I will work almost full time, and now we are trying to figure out how to work everything out with all our schedules. I haven't read much since last week, haven't been in the mood. Also had a bad cold, but it is better now. Right now, Mozart is playing in my head, Elizabeth Bennets version, singing and playing for Mr Darcy at his terrible aunts Manor. Have a lovely P and P-marathon! Malin (Sweden) |

Hi Malin, Yes, DS = dear sister. I'm the youngest of five and my this is my much beloved, and only, older sister. We both love P&P and last year we celebrated her birthday with a P&P marathon, so have decided to make it a yearly event. I'm glad the your youngest is enjoying kinder, what perfect timing that he does, though, with you and your DH about to begin full time work. Shall cross fingers that the scheduling is smoothed out for you all though! Its amazing how illness can rob us of the enjoyment, let alone the motivation and ability to read. Just when a few days in bed, if we're allowed, would seem like the best time to lay back and read, it ends up being the time we simply cannot do that. Maybe that was why I couldn't read last year, being ill off and on for the entire year. Glad the cold has cleared up for you, though, especially as it sounds like you're going to be quite busy very soon! Jules |

SEP, in Melbourne temps yesterday were a top of 12, an overnight low of 4, but with windchill of -1 for some of the day. Converted to Fahrenheit those temps would be top of 53, low of 39 with wind chill of 30. The alpine areas with a -7 (17F) for the snow bunnies to enjoy. Nowhere near as cold as your US winter this last winter but for me, its cold! |

Hum, I just left Melbourne yesterday and it was going to be in the 98's (F)...oh, different Melbourne? We drove 8 1/2 hours on our way to CT to celebrate our 40th anniversary in my home town. We will be attending church where we were married on Sunday (the 29th) and spending time with family for the weekend. DH did good on the drive yesterday, but we still have a full day ahead today and then about 4 or 5 hours tomorrow. Then off to drive through PA to visit some of his cousins then on to OH for his Submarine Vets Convention next weekend then to see MH & Andrea!

I'm stressed! I have two final exams next week, and one of them is such a pain in the ___(fill in the blank). I have to finish writing my final thesis til sunday, make up 20 days of practice work in a printing studio (I've only spent there a day and a half), and I have to take 20 photos so I can pass the third exam, photography. Then I have to prepare my portfolio so I can turn it in on the 13th of September with a lot of paper work so I could participate for the entry exam for the master's classes, and on the 24th I have that entrance exam which is consisted of three hardest exams I've had in the last 3 years. If I pass, and I hope I will, my classes will start.goodbye my beautiful lazy summer days and sleeping til noon, hello sleepless nights and large cups of coffee! Hi Jewls, I've been unbelievable busy this summer with work. We've got new customer contracts and not enough people yet to handle all the work, so the managers have asked us to work 10 hour days & as many weekends that we can. Ugh...I need a vacation! A few weeks ago, I tried my hand at making Bread & Butter Pickles (my sister's cucumber patch was going nuts & she dropped off a big bag of them). I guess that no matter how far I get from the farm, I still have that farm girl in me...I love canning. Since my sister's DH is diabetic, I tried making them using Splenda so that he could have some & they turned out really good. Then I had to try making them with sliced jalapenos in them. Those turned out to have a nice sweet & hot taste...yum! Guess I kind of went pickle crazy & now I have enough to last me until next summer! I've been in a reading slump for a couple months and then 2 weeks ago I picked up J.R. Ward's Dark Lover and my slump is over! I'm current on the fourth book in the series. Last Sunday, I did nothing but read...it was a wonderful, self-indulgent day! I need to schedule more of those. Hope you have a great weekend with your DS! The P&P marathon sounds like fun!
