"Which Chicago Stars book would you give to a former pro"

It's a long and involved story, but I am visiting with a friend of ours on Friday that used to play pro football. He's now a media personality here. Of course, I can't show up empty-handed, so I thought he might get a kick out of seeing SEP's view of the NFL via the Chicago Stars books.

My favorite is MMIYC; I'm curious to know what the rest of you might recommend.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Julie

I love MMIYC but I think NBBM would be a good pick. No matter how many times I read it, I still crack up.

It depends, if you’re looking to highlight a real woman’s POV on American football, then I’d recommend IHTBY or MMIYC. IHTBY comes across as having a female POV, while MMIYC is very male – I saw the book through Heath’s eyes as he tries to navigate the ins and out of Football politics.

If you just want to give him a good romance novel about a football player, you can’t go wrong with Bobby Tom or Cal Bonner I’m not comfortable sharing Kevin and Dean with anyone, their mine exclusively

Personally, I'd go with IT HAD TO BE YOU because that's the only one that had actual football in it. Let us know what you decide.

The Goddess has spoken; far be it from me to argue. It Had to Be You is it. Plus, I can get his opinion of Dan's relationship with his ex-wife!

Thanks, SEP and everyone else!

I'm off to the bookstore...

I haven't read any of the other posts, so if I repeat points, please forgive me.

It Had to be You because it has more "football stuff" in it...I think he'd get a chuckle out of an artsy-fartsy woman putting her own unique spin to motivate a team of testrostone (sp) charged football players. And, the parts about how a team schedule is, the practices, the coaching stuff, the business parts of running a football team counterbalances the great romance of Phoebe and Dan.

Okay. Here's the deal.

Our meetup has most likely been postponed till next week. Scheduling for four people is tricky. LOL

I bought a copy of IHTBY yesterday. One thing's for sure, he's going to love the cover! I will report back on his comments about the book.
