Hmmm.... I don't know. I'll have to think about that one too.
Truffle salt sounds amazing! I want to hear more about it too.

I fell in love with this butter that comes from Ireland. It's called Kerry Gold and it's available now in most supermarkets. Originally I used to buy it at a specialty store that charged $4 to $5 for a 1 pound square. Now I see it at my local stores for about 1/2 price. the butter is so yummy and pure.

   Hali,
my DH will be delighted to hear that - he is Irish but we live in Germany and we ONLY eat Kerry Gold butter too. Even my parents are converts! It's not just butter, it's a religion!

An onion-extract cream that is supposed to minimize scars, it's called Mederma, costs about $20. I have also spent $20, more than once, on a Bliss Spa body wash with a lemon & sage scent, it's ridiculous to spend that much on body wash, but I can't get enough of it.

I want to know if the Mederma works? I have thought about it for my stretch marks...I mean my Mommy Badges of Honor.

I don't know what my odd item is. I usually go out of my way to spend as little as possible on as much as possible.

Mederma worked on a bad scar my son had on his upper lip that he got from a fall off a bike when he was 10. It also worked on old acne scars on my DH. I don't know if it would work on stretch marks - it might, but with as many as I have, I would have to find the Mederma in a gallon-sized container.

   >Efy buys truffle salt for $25. Huh? Tell us more

It is made by Tetsuya (who has one of the top restaurants in Sydney) and it has dried flakes of truffle through it. I served crusty bread with olive oil and the truffle salt at a Sunday lunch - we were all in raptures. It gave it such a beautiful richness...my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

>I'm pondering what my odd item is.

I'm sure you have an indulgent must-have item.

The only thing I buy that I'd call "odd" is Spicy Pickled Garlic. The local orchard carries it in their market, so I can only buy it from mid-July until the end of November, when they close for the off season. It may sound awful, but when I'm making a salad, I throw a few small cloves in and they're actually pretty tasty. I've gotten my Mom and three sisters hooked on putting it their salads, too.

I LOVE pickled garlic! YUMMY! There are lots of places that sell it at country craft style events around here. I could get some if I could get out of the house every once in a while.

I have two different kinds of wheat berries on hand. Since I got a vitamix I've been having fun grinding my own flour.

The single oddest thing I buy is probably the pig stomach that is currently in my freezer! I get it from an old fashioned butcher when I visit my grandmother to make the Pennsylvania Dutch treat hog's maw We grew up having it for Thanksgiving but now I make it once a year when the whole family is together, whenever that happens to be. Anybody wanna join us? LOL
