"Crashing a visitation at a funeral home"

My sister wanted me to go with her to the funeral home tonight for the visitation of a neighbor's uncle. We got to the funeral home and noticed really loud Big Band music coming from the door's of the funeral home. I told her that I had never heard music from the funeral home. You could hear it out in the parking lot; I thought that they had a stereo system. When we got inside, there was a big band set up in one of the visitation rooms. The person at the front door directed us to the next room. We didn't recognize anyone and I asked my sister if she was sure we were at the right place. We stood in line until we got to the registration book. Once we got there, we flipped to the front cover and realized it was the wrong person. This was for a man who played in a Big Band for years. We were supposed to be at another funeral home a few miles down the street. We turned around to leave and as we were walking to the car, we were laughing so hard we couldn't even talk.

Great story! Glad you didn't get any negative looks from the mourners who were probably like, "Who the heck are they?" lol

LOL! Sounds like something Stephanie and Lula would have done in the Plum books. What a hoot! So, you gonna trust your sister with directions and addresses next time??

!!! The custom with funeral homes seems very exotic to me, it is not the way we have funerals here. I also think of Stephanie Plum and her grandmother, and Six feet Under, of course!

When we were walking out of the first funeral home, my sister told me "this feels like a Stephanie Plum story". Everyone coming out of the Big Band funeral home was coming out smiling and were very friendly.

LOL...that is so funny! Don't think I have ever shown up at the wrong funeral home non seen a big band at one, but I think I can understand why!

Hope you got to the right one without laughing.

Great story. I've been to way too many funerals this year and so far the strangest moment for me has been when I went to viewing of my Boss's father--he was 94 and a lot of flower arrangements were sent ( including 2 huge one's from us at work) her mother was insisting that we should take the flowers home--she didn't want the home to throw out or for the florist to take them back! She made her grandson's put some of the arrangements in the car so that she would break them up and have them at home. i just found that so odd.
