"Rachel Gibson's "See Jane Score""

Okay, well to start off, I haven't been on here for a couple of weeks and I've missed so much! I guess no one noticed my absence, but I suppose that's alright. I haven't been here long enough to earn a rightful "Where is Emily?" comment. Lol. In short, I broke the charger cord thing for my laptop so I am being forced to use my Mom's really old desktop computer. ....and it farts at me.

Anyways, I just finished "See Jane Score"...and I cried. I started it Saturday afternoon after reading "Lady Be Good" for the second time and thought, I need something new to read so I won't know what already happens. And I finished it Sunday night.
Wow...was I in for more than I thought! Gibson's book was so much more than I ever would have hoped for. It was outragiously funny, sexy, emotional (in more ways than one), and it was unpredictable.
In most romances that I read - not including ones by SEP - the chemistry between the couple is usually bland and you can figure out pretty easily where their relationship is headed and when they will actually sleep together. With "SJS", I was nearly jumping off my bed in anticipation and I swear I haven't been so excited while reading a non-SEP novel in a really really really long time.
I particularly loved how she wrote the steamy good stuff. She didn't just float on by with a few kisses and a push on the bed and some moans and it was over...oh no...she incorporated the anxious, lustful feelings throughout almost every freakin page in the book...which was amazing for me...because I am at that point in my horomonal life where all I can ever think about is sex and so I was extra happy that the characters were too. xD Hahahaha.
Take my advice if you haven't read it yet....do so...immediately. When I get more money..which won't be for awhile...I am going to go out and by more of her books.

That, Emily, is a great review! You summed it up beautifully. The story seems so simple, but a part of kept on guessing how the HEA would develop right up until the end.

If you're looking for an emotional investment, I highly recommend Rachel Gibson's Truly, Madly, Yours and Daisy's Back In Town. And if you like those two books as well, I'd recommend The Boy Next Door by Emilyn Rees and Josie Llyod (it's technically chick lit, but they are my auto-buy reads). ER & JL books are a bit hard to find in North America, mainly because they're British writers...and now I'm just babbling, lol

Emily, don't get disheartened that we didn't think of you. We always do think fondly of all the Seppies who join in, it's just that sometimes, some people join and then leave possibly becasue they don't feel comfortable here, etc. And so we don't want to make you feel uncomfortable by calling you out. But do keep on posting, the more we get to know you, the more you get to know us...

Now forgive me, because I have a memory of a squirrel, may I ask how old you are? lol, I'm trying to guess which hormonal imbalance you're talking about puberty or menopause

Hahahaha! Not at all! Mainly I was joking about the whole "not being noticed" thing. It's hard to be sarcastic online. If we'd been talking in person, everyone would know that I was just pulling everyone's chain.
As for my age, I will be 18 in October. However, I think that I will be thinking about sex constantly my whole entire life because that's just how I am. Lol! I'm a romance junky. Can't get enough of it, which might get me into trouble someday. I might overthink what I want out of a relationship and I might piss- I mean tick off the man of my dreams because I want him to constantly swoop me off my feet.
And thanks for the compliment! I haven't really done reviews before but I was just so excited after reading her book that I had to say something about it! I was just looking at the sneek peek of "Nothing But Trouble" and I think I'm gonna get that one next because it has one of the Hockey players from "See Jane Score"...and it just looks fabulous.
Thanks for the suggestions! I will most definitely read them.
And I rarely feel awkward when someone calls me out, especially in a discussion board...if anything, it makes me feel more "in the group". I love it here.
Thanks for the wonderful comment!

ahh, 18. Well the good news the best years are right around the corner If it makes you feel any better, I'm 28 and I constantly think about sex still. Can't help it. Part of the reason why I am single is because most guys just can't measure up. I'm still hoping though, lol

I personally think that every woman has the right to always think about sex. Men do it, so why can't we? I don't understand why it seems inappropriate for women to, but it's a natural thing for men. Blech!
Anywho, I've been single all my life...doesn't make sense to me...but it doesn't bother me much anymore. I'm beautiful and I have finally been able to think of myself as such and I wasn't able to for a very long time. And I am a nice girl who isn't a floosy...but I suppose it's just like what Jane said in the book...except in reverse. "Good guys finish last"...well so do good girls.
Too bad I can't blame my zero-attraction-ness to men on being ugly...and that makes me sound really really conceited. Hahaha. I wish I could, but I'm not going to be one of those girls who say, "Well, I guess the reason is because I am ugly even though deep down I know that I am pretty enough." - Screw that.
I love my cheery attitude!

LOL Emily! That was a very fun review! See Jane Score WAS an excellent book. It's actually one of my faves. Like Amal said if you liked it, you should check out some of Rachel Gibson's other books. She's pretty great.

That was the first Rachel Gibson Book I read, then I've read all of them in a matter of weeks because that is how I roll lol
I once asked the BB who would they recommend for my SEP withdrawal (between her last and next book that is) and I have received lots of suggestions but if someone asked me the same question now I would say Rachel Gibson is the right person for the job!

Ahh!! It's so dang good! Lol. And I completely agree with you. Gibson has an entirely different flavor than SEP, but it's a great flavor and one that should not be overlooked.
I just got home from shopping and I picked up her newest book, "Nothing But Trouble" and I was somewhat embarrassed because I had to have a really really good looking guy help me find it and when he handed it to me, he looked at the cover and of course it has a guy and girl embracing passionately and I was thinking..."Oh Lord..." hahahaha! Fantastic!

That was my first R.G. book, andI've been a fan ever since. My memory for details isn't great since I read so many books, but wasn't that the book with a great love scene in a closet?

Ah, gotta love Luc Martineau, right? *dirtygrin*

It was my first RG book as well and I read it years ago, but have re-read it countless times. It's a great style and I really am into sports plus romance books.

And, let me tell you...I am 32 and I never in my whole life had as much sex on the brain as I have now. It's getting more and more and the sex is getting better and better. *lol*

Happy reading!

Well, if I am anything like you lol, then my future is screwed...literally. xD hehehe.

I am reading "Nothing but Trouble" now...and I have a horrible habit of skipping until their first time just so I know how long it'll take me to get there because I'm...dirty. and...just to let everyone know...it was the most fantastic thing I have ever read. Well, at least that's what I thought when I read it. Holy freakin Cow!!

Food for thought.
