"Celestial Seasonings"

Today I went up to Boulder with a few friends and did a tour of the Celestial Seasonings factory. It is truly amazing and interesting. The tour goes inside their "Mint Room". It is where they store the peppermint. It was so intense! My sinuses were clear in a second. Their gift shop had some fun stuff too. Needless to say I bought a variety of teas. One of them is their grapefruit tea. I absolutely love it. I think it would make fabulous ice tea too. They also have some seasonings that I bought that smelt amazing and I think will be tasty. There was a tea kettle there I wanted really bad but it was outrageous in price. Any suggestions on where to find a nice kettle I can keep on my stove but also use? If you're ever in Boulder, I suggest you visit the factory!

P.S. I saw boxes and boxes of Candy Cane Lane.

P.P.S Can you guess what flavor is their number one seller?

My DH and I went last summer on the advice of Lizzie and we really enjoyed it. It's a fun little tour! I know the answer to your question, but I would be cheating if I revealed it.

I love that tour! We decided to do a neighborhood ladies field trip up there one time and all felt like Lucy and Ethel (in the candy episode) when we put on the hair nets!

Do they still sell the boxes of tea for $2?

They do! I think it is like $2 and some change. To be honest I wasn't really a tea fan prior to going. Now that I had the chance to sample a bunch of them I realized I love the fruity ones. I also like the peppermint! I love that they make the guys wear beard nets if they have even a hint of a 5 o'clock shadow!

I just pulled out my receipt. It was $2.35 for a box (20 ct). Online they sell it for 2.99. Not too shabby!

I'm hoping you mentioned the best selling tea it in your post! I've still got 1/2 a box left. It's snowing like crazy today so around 10, i'll switch from coffee to candy cane lane.

2 yr old Alexander and I have tea parties. WE make a pot of candy cane lane tea, then I mix his with cold water. He uses a cup "like Mama's." Sometimes he sips it, sometimes he slurps it with a spoon, and sometimes he pushes it away, sloppily, when he's done!

I love the story! It will be something he always remembers. They had some really cute little tea sets for kids. I was tempted to get them for my nieces for their birthdays but then got a little nervous that they would break. They might be a tiny bit too young. My grandma was a huge tea drink (always without lemon) and I was reminded of her so much during the tour. Unfortunately the best selling tea was not candy cane lane. If you are ever in Colorado you should venture up to Boulder to check out the tour. I found it interesting to even hear about their trading practices and how they get their mint from Oregon/Washington.

It is the Sleepy Time Tea. I've never had it before. There was one mint on in the top three but it wasn't candy cane lane. Women were buying cases of Sleepy Time when they got into the gift shop.

I had some tea sets that I sold out of my vending machines.

Well, Christine saw the display card, and she tore them apart and now has a Princess tea set, and a couple Dora tea sets.

Its so funny to watch her prepare and pour the tea and how much noise I'm expected to make when I slurp up the tea.

   Oh my Gosh!!!
Grapefruit tea? What could be better? I didn't know they had such a thing. I'll have to go onto their website and see if they sell it on there. The tour sounds like fun.

Thanks, I went to order and it's only $2/99 a box. I put in all the information and they charge $12.15 for freight and $2.50 for handling. So it was over $17.00 for one box. I guess I'll just have to wait until I get to the factory to get some. I wonder if the stores around here can get it with their order? I'll have to ask.
Thanks again for the link.

Are you serious!? That is shocking and outrageous. I had no idea it was so expensive to do it that way. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll be more then happy to send you some.

I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I emailed them and they said that was the only way they sent it. I would be more than happy to pay for it if you could send me some.
Thanks,

I love Celestial Seasonings and it's so sad when they discontinue my favorite flavors like English Toffee. I love that tea and have for years but it is no more. *sniff* Still, I love Morning Thunder and Bengal Spice and can't imagine not ending my day with a little Sleepy Time.

My SIL lives near Boulder. Next time we visit, I'm going on a tour.

I love the CS teas. I have tried the Bigelow brand and am not crazy about them. I love the fruit teas the best. I drink it straight--no milk or sugar. Right now I have the girls at work hooked on Country Peach Passion. It's smell is fantastic and it tastes like you have a whole peach in your mouth. they have the receipe how to make it as cold tea and I plan on trying that once summer hits.

I buy the fruit variety sampler pack and recently tried the "True Blueberry"---delicious. Tasted like a blueberry muffin.( the tea color did not change to blue but as I was drinking it I wondered if I would turn blue like the girl in Willy Wonka---lol).

Right now now I have Black cherry and Raspberry Zinger left.

I want to visit the factory now.
