Tori my indecision is killing me. I'm off one more day and am home doing laundry from our trip while I listen to Lady Be Good. I could easily sneak out to the bookstore as soon as they open here in California. I just don't know if I want to know. So what am I doing on this thread... Patricia G |

Spoilers below * * * * * * * * * *Ok, I read it through quickly before the gym and here is my take. It is Ted and Lucy's wedding rehersal. Meg hasn't met him yet and she thinks Lucy is making a mistake. Everythime they were supposed to meet something came up. The 2 girls went to college together. That is how Meg and Lucy are friends. Meg is a bridesmaid. When she finally sees him it is like a punch to the stomach because he is so HOT! I think Teddy ends up with Meg because they are so opposite and opposites attract right?. I think Lucy will go with the biker guy who is briefly mentioned who is part of Teds groomsmen. This is just my take. SEP, I loved it and I still think the pairing could go either way. You have me dying of curiosity. Jenny Missouri |

I admit that since I already own WIDFL, I sat in Borders and read the first chapter of Ted's book. I could never picture Ted with Lucy, so I'm really excited (and impatient) to read the rest of Ted & Meg's story...hmmm...will Meg's doubts about Lucy & Ted being right for each other convince Lucy to leave Ted waiting at the alter??? Will she run off with the biker before the rehearsal is even over??? I love the hint from Meg that Lucy needs to return to her true self. Oh please, please, please tell me you have a release date for Ted's book! I can't wait to see what happens! (Hints about Lucy's book would be welcome, too!) Mary from Central Illinois |

SEP you've done it again!!! I knew I shouldn't give into temptation and read the 1st chapter of Ted's book but did I listen to reason....no I didn't listen and now I am climbing the walls waiting for this book to be released. Not to mention more confused than before about who the heroine is going to be. As I started reading, I was a little disappointed that Lucy was Ted's heroine, I was really hoping it would be Meg. Now after reading the first chapter, I'm still not sure who the heroine is going to be. I have to hand it to you SEP, you are the best of the best when it comes to teasers!!! I love the book so far but please, please, please put us out of our misery and tell us who the heroine is.....please with a cherry on top, I'm begging on my hands and knees.... ~Susan |

I picked it up at lunch at Target and then had a Parking Lot Moment while I read the Ted chapter. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . My thought is that if SEP thinks the heroine is obvious from the exerpt then it must be Meg. Maybe I am over thinking, but I could see Lucy fighting for him. On the other hand, I also would like to see Lucy break out of her Best Girl in the World persona that Meg thinks she has adopted since Neally and Matt got together. The biker guy has potential- and that could be the second book. Ted needs some shaking up too. I have total faith in SEP to tell us a good couple of stories. No way will the Seppies feel betrayed like some of the Brockmann people seem to have been with the Decker-Tracy (?- how soon we forget.) situation. Can't wait for Francesca to go ballistic. Loved the reaction of the townspeople to Teddy's bride. Shades of Bobby Tom's football quiz. Was Birdie someone I should remember from LBG? And I'd like to say again that Eva Cassidy's "I Know You By Heart" would be a good name for this book, given Meg's response to Ted. Just a thought. Leslie near Seattle Leslie near Seattle |

I guess I look at it as if the pressure of being in the public eye and wanting to make Matt and Nealy proud, Lucy has restrained her wilder self. And getting so close to marrying a man that even she feels is too good for her is the last straw and she has to break out of the persona she's created and be the true self that has been suppressed inside her. (Just my perceptioms, here. This is in no way implied in the first chapter.) I don't think Ted will jilt her or that Meg steals him away from her, rather I hope that it's Lucy that does the jilting. I got the feeling from the first chapter that while Lucy may be someone that Ted has affection for, she's doesn't touch his heart to the depth where he would be devastated if their relationship didn't work out. (Again, just my perception.) Both Ted and Lucy deserve that type of love, but I think they're going to find out that they need to look elsewhere for it. Ted with Meg and Lucy with ??? Lucy deserves more than affection! Mary from Central Illinois |

You know, when Meg was first mentioned, that was my intial thought. Meg was in, Lucy was out. Other than Lucy remembering her earlier beginners Goth days, Meg, is this Hollywood, Free spirit, who Ted, would find a total flake and fall absolutely in love with. It would not matter that Lucy is tiny like his Mom,and should remind him of all the runaways Francie collected (only he never got to see that side of Lucy). |

Meg and Ted as a pair sounds like a nice possibilty. To be honest I was not so excited about Ted's book in the beginning but the spoilers totally changed that. Now I can't wait to read the book and I'm absolutly rooting for Meg. Thanks SEP for writing another great book and I'm sure that I will love it. And I can understand that people get all excited about Lucy but some of the posts are a bit over the top (IMO). Sabrina

I would just like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that we're talking about FICTIONAL CHARACTERS here, not real people. And that we're talking about them on the bulletin board owned by the creator of said fictional characters. Show some respect. Everybody take a major chill pill with a giant chaser of Relax and calm the frick down. And I say that with the utmost goodheartedness. Whether you're on Team Lucy or Team Meg, Miz Susan is going to write another fabulous book that will have us all weeping, laughing, and gnashing our teeth when we FINALLY get to read it. Remember that Sugar Beth started out as a very unloveable heroine when she was a teen, but turned into one of my favorite heroines in romance novel history. SEP is probably sitting at home in her Bootylicious nightgown and those slippers with the yogurt stain on the toe, laughing her butt off over this "debate." I agree with Teble. SEP won't disappoint us. As for my reaction to the excerpt ... (sorry in advance for my long post. I have so much to say!) .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. I think that Ted and Meg make really good sense. The whole opening segment actually had me tricked for a moment when it discussed the upcoming nuptials between Ted and Lucy. I was thinking, "Wow, this is different. We don't even get to read about the hero/heroine getting to know each other?" But then when I saw the section in Meg's viewpoint, it all become clear to me. Very clever, SEP. I really like Meg. She has a very frank opinion about the whole charade that is Ted and Lucy's wedding, and her perspective is very relatable. Lucy is letting herself get blinded by Ted's godlike status in that town, and Ted is definitely up to something. Yes. Perfect as he may be, he is up to something, and I dare think that he needs to be called out on it by the aimless Meg Koranda. No one is really that perfect. I think that's the whole point. I think that Meg has the potential to bring back glimpses of that insecure little boy who threw temper tantrums in "Fancy Pants," and I will eat up every moment of that. In addition, Meg clearly needs some stability in her life. If her super-driven and successful parents couldn't do the trick, then maybe Teddy's the only person left who can help her find a niche in life. I'm so excited to see how the story unfolds. The wedding probably won't happen, and Meg might end up at fault. Maybe she'll talk Lucy out of it? If I were Lucy, I would be sprinting out of Wynette fast enough to make heads spin. The people in that town are a little ... much. And remember when SEP hinted that Francie wasn't happy in the story? Who would make her unhappier than Meg, who wouldn't be a doormat for anyone, let alone her golden boy son? I love Ted and Lucy as individuals. Together? I think I understand what SEP meant about them being too perfect. Someone is going to bring the spunk back into the Lucy we all know and love, but I don't think he will be Ted ... I guess we'll see ... BTW, SEP, I laughed out loud in Barnes & Noble when I read the part where Ted walks into the church and trumpets started to blare. That was hilarious! |

Hmmm, will we possibly see Lucy with the "biker guy" that is part of Ted's wedding party? I loved Meg's reaction to Ted when she saw him. Also, when he was standing with the sun shining around him spotlighting him and Lucy said that Ted said stuff like that was a coincidence. I think Meg will give Ted a run for his money. She will definately bring chaos to his world. This will be so fun to read. SEP, I am thrilled to have read the first chapter but it will be torture waiting for the book to come out. Jenny Missouri

I haven't read chapter one yet, but as I was scrolling down, reading the spoilers (because I'll still read the book and I have no problem with knowing something beforehand), I figured that it would be Meg because you put Ted and Lucy at their wedding rehearsal...something I don't feel you would start off with if it was to be Ted and Lucy. That feeling is from listening to you talk about your other books. This senario kinda sounds like the old Brooks and Dunn song about a wedding...the girl's name is Connie..."you can't take the honkey-tonk out of the girl..." And, it kinda reminds me of Hot Shot just a wee bit, too with the Biker Dude part. Can't wait to see how everything fits together. I agree with Teble when she says that you haven't disappointed us in the past and I know you won't in the future. Celia B |

I avoided this thread until today because I didn't want to spoil my first reading of the chapter. Yes, I admit it, yesterday I stood in Borders and read it because I already own WIDFL. I can't wait to read the entire story and discover how the relationships develop. I do have two questions 1) now that Tiger has fallen from grace, will that first chapter be edited? 2)when is the publication date? Did I mention I am very eager to read the book? Teri |

SEP, thanks for confirming who Teddy's heroine is. Now I can start getting used to the idea that Teddy and Lucy won't be together. Sigh. I know these are fictional characters, but as someone else pointed out, we get invested in them because of the realistic way they're written, and we come to care deeply about them. Susan, I have a question. Will Lucy get her actual own book, or will we just read about her romance as a secondary character in Teddy's story? I hope it's the former. |

I read it today and although I was going for Lucy I am more than sure that the heroine in this one is going to be Meg, unless there is some unexpected twist going on. The chapter started with Meg's perspective, and the fact that she noticed that there is no passion in the way Ted and Lucy look at each other. She also noticed that he was very calm, and Lucy point out that not only is he perfect but he does not get angry. Lucy and Ted are too perfect for each other and although I agree that she is a rebel inside, I do believe that Meg's character and way of being spontaneous is what can bring out the passion and anger in Ted. I really love both girls and I thought Lucy was perfect on First Lady but my heart always went to Meg, she is crazy which is the perfect opposite for Ted's control.. But like I said, judging by what I read, Meg is the girl that is going to make Ted's perfect world upside down!!! rochellylovesDEANR

SO IT IS MEG! I KNEW ALL ALONG. HAHAHA I discovered it in early November! Okay, I'm going to be blabbering, and call me obsess about "Ted's Book," because I was and still am... but I was playing around, changing the exposure of the photo SEP posted on FB to tease us about her weekend of working on Ted's book. At the time, I thought maybe, just maybe I can get something off of it to feed my curiosity. Man oh man, was I BORED! But I am glad, because it kept me from questioning myself whether it's Meg or Lucy especially since there's been hot debates going on as well. Well, I was indifferent about the girls; which ever one Ted ends with, I'd still be happy... just because SEP produces marvelous books. But since I wasn't sure if it would be right to spoil who Ted's lady love is, I've kept it to myself (which was so hard, because I desperately wanted to talk with someone) the whole time. In the red rectangle I circled, it says something along the line, "Meg looked away" and it's in chapter fifteen, I believe?
Can't wait to read the first chapter. Gawsh, someone needs to take me to the Barnes & Noble asap!! Sucks that I can't drive, yet. |

OMG I KNEW IT!!!!!! I can't wait for Ted and Meg's story!!! When I heard about the possibility of Meg being the heroine and not Lucy I went crazy, in an overjoyed way of course, because I had not read First Lady at the time (I did a couple of weeks ago and I LOVED IT!!!) but even then my heart always went to Meg. I loved how she is an openly rebellious girl which is, in my opinion, what Ted really needs to come out of that perfect little world he lives in!!! I am also excited to see Francesca's reaction to Meg, THAT WILL EXPLOSIVE!!!! p.s. I also loved to hear that Lucy will have her own book!!! I think she will be a great heroine!! OMG I CANNOT WAIT FOR EITHER OF THESE BOOKS!!!! rochellylovesDEANR

In many of SEP's books, the heroine needs to prove herself in some way and/or become financially independent to be with the hero (so that she's not dependent on him). See DALD and NBC, among others, not to mention Ain't. So, Meg is broke, broke, broke. She's also completely aimless. What well Meg do to prove herself? How will she keep herself from becoming financially dependent on Teddy (if/when she gets together with him)? Discuss amongst yourselves. |

Chapter Fifteen ... in crazy fragments. ..................... ... Her eyes flickered to ... "... that?" Chad (Chef? Chet?) exclaimed. "It's already ???" If only he knew. "It's for Ted," she said. "He won't notice." She set the dessert in front of ??? and (hurried?) back to the ??? for coffee before he could say anything. She started (strained?) to pour as far away from him as she could get. The woman Zoey (?) had identified as (Booger Gray's?) mother. "???, isn't that your--???" "What? No. It just looks like it." ... the table farthest away.
... didn't give him a chance to say anything to her as she set the dessert. He ================================================ Anybody else with too much time on their hands have anything to add? |

Hey, I also have a copy of some crazy fragments, too, from that same day I was playing with the photo. This was what I got off from it: CHAPTER FIFTEEN ..... He's .... Ted — And watched? every movement?. His eyes flickered to Meg, but? ... Meg looked away. She carried? ___ another? ... the way they ... even a Ice Tool. (?) "You can't serve? that!” Chel? exclaimed. "It's all ready, tell me (?)." If only he knew... "It's for Ted," she said. "He won't notice." She set the dessert in front of him and looked back at the kitchen for coffee ... doubt? my? anything. She started to pace? as far away from him as she ... The woman Zoey had identified as Duncan Orovy’s mother. "Those?, isn’t that you — __." "What? No. It just looks like it." ... for? the table farthest away. ... didn't give him a chance to say anything to her as she set the dessert. He... Okay, basing on what I got... it seems like Meg did something suspicious. Humm..... particularly when she said "It's for Ted... he won't notice." LOL! I can't wait to read this book. SIGHHH, another whole year. *sniff**

I finally got time to post after reading it the spoiler. *My first thought after reading Ted's description is, I'm calling this book 'perfecTED' or maybe sainTED... Waiting for real title. *Second thought - What other strange things happen when Ted is around - apart from trumpets sounding his entrance? I burst out loud laughing at that one. *Thirdly, how is SEP going to deal with the etiquette of Ted dating his ex-fiance's best friend? Personally, it would take some strong feelings for me to do that to a friend, no matter how great he is. It breaks the code. *Finally, the wait is AGONY. Efy (Sydney)

I was absolutely devastated when I finished reading the first chapter of Ted's book. The idea of Ted and Lucy was just so ingrained into my head that anything else would just break my heart. Admittedly Meg is probably a better match for Teddy, but I'm still going to have a hard time adjusting. And a love triangle involving two best friends is just asking for trouble and I'm nervous to find out how they solve that 'little' problem. I feel much better knowing that Lucy will get her own book and that there's someone out there for her. It's absolute torture waiting for this book to come out. I can't possibly wait till 2011. And even longer for Lucy's book. And I have every finger crossed that Rosie and Chip will end up together. |

Okay, am I the only one that noticed the teensy weensy little typo in Chapter 1? It is on the page where Meg is talking to Birdie. The beginning of a sentence in the middle of this scene says "Lucy" but it should be "Meg" since Lucy isn't anywhere near them at this point. Quote: Meg worked at keeping her composure. "I'm sure she appreciates him just as much as he does her. Lucy is a very special person." Birdie jumped at the opportunity to take offense. "Not as special as Ted, but then you'd have to live around here to understand." Lucy wasn't getting into a spitting contest with this woman, no matter how much she wanted to, so she kept her smile firmly in place. "I live in L.A. I understand a lot." And after reading the chapter....How could anyone question that Meg was The Chosen One? It seemed so obvious to me from the start of the chapter. Maybe it was obvious to me since I never thought that Ted should be with Lucy. Meg is the one who would drive him absolutely nutty! Micah |

I finally got my own copy of WIDFL. Since I already read the book, I just skipped to read the sneak peek of "Ted's Book." Can't wait til 2011!! I'm loving it so far. LOL BTW, there was a spelling typo with Nealy's last name on the last page, unless it was meant to be that way... I don't know. "Are you really suggesting that Lucy shouldn't marry Ted?" Nealy Chase said in the voice she'd reserved for the opposition party. "One step backward does not mean you are defeated. It just means that you need to take a step forward again. But this time wiser." –unknown |

Just finished it - it had to be Meg. Can't wait to see how Ted is going to be taken down a notch or two by her. The trumpet/church door scene was pretty funny. Oh, the agony of waiting... |

I haven't read the excerpt yet (because the paperback copy is not yet available here in the Philippines) but it sounds like an interesting change happened. I admit I became used to the idea that the next book will be for Ted and Lucy. But then again, I like Meg too. And just give me a minute to recover from my shock and I'll reconcile the idea that the next book will be for Ted and Meg already. I admit, I don't care. I love Ted and I love Lucy and Meg, too. I may not be jumping for joy because of the idea that Ted will end up marrying his ex-fiancee's bestfriend but I'm sure SEP will not disappoint us. (When did she ever?) I'm sure this is going to be a good book. I can't wait until it hits the shelves on 2011. I hope it's January? RM |
