"ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE LOVE KISS AN ANGEL AS MUCH AS ME?"

I just finished reading KISS AN ANGEL.
I thought it was so wonderful!!! I have not been able to stop thinking about it. I think out of all of SEP's books the plot and characters are the most well developed thus far.

I loved the Stars series, but sometimes it seems all the focus is on those books, did anyone else love KAA as much as I did?

YES! I just finished it like 5 minutes ago. I loved it. I fell in love with Tater.

As much as I liked it, Bobby Tom Denton and Heaven, Texas still have my heart.

KAA is possibly my favorite SEP book. It wasn't the first book of hers I read so I don't have that first time bias about it, I just loved it to pieces when I was reading it and I did NOT want it to end even though I desperately wanted Alex and Daisy to have their HEA. The only other book I loved more than KAA was AIN'T and to this day, I can't decide which one is my all-time favorite. I want to read them both again, but it's only been a year since the first time and I want to forget them better before I do. SEP books are among the few pleasures that make me wish for amnesia just so I could fully enjoy them all again

Funny, I loved HEAVEN TEXAS too. I think that KAA and HT are my two all time favorites. HT had a much lighter humorous feel to it. I am not sure I have ever laughed at a book so much. KAA was much darker. Both books were very emotionally involved for me. The last 3 chapters of KAA had me about on my knees. GREAT JOB SEP!

AINT... it's a mystery to me this book seems to be a HUGE favorite on the boards.. and I swear I read it and it was one of my least favorite SEP books. I am not sure why????? I guess the secret to these books is falling in love as you read. Sometimes you just don't fall in love.

I agree about 'ain't'. it originally was one of my least favorite, but now is one of my most favorite.
it is also now one of my most favorite audios. kate did an exemplary job on this book.
I really wonder how future books will be read. I am trying to keep an open mind.
although I am an avid reader, I am not a reader of kate's caliber.
anyway, it is a great book. if I had to pick who I felt most seemed like me, I would say sugar beth, although I am not so funny and so much fun, and strong, hell, I must be kidding myself. maybe I just think I would like to be like her.

Ain't is my favorite too. Always has been. But I love all SEP's books, including KAA. I just recently did a reread of it. That was back when I was having such horrid concentration problems, and KAA along with FL helped me to get back on track.

I love Daisy. She's so sweet and strong. I love her with the animals, especially Tater. I love her with Alex. Love the book.

I must say that I loved Kiss An Angel just as much!! I loved Alex and Daisy.... I was drawn into their story from the beginning. I laughed when Daisy couldn't remember her arranged Groom's name at the ceremony and when she accidentally called Alex her "Awful Wedded Husband." I loved it! I loved it that Alex turned out to be Russian Royalty. I loved the tension between the two characters and the attraction. I also loved Daisy's relationship with the tiger, the baby elephant and Glenna the gentle gorilla. I also loved how everything turned out for them in the end. I felt like I learned a lot about circus life that I never knew and I always feel like I have a new lease on life after reading one of Susan's books. I felt that way with this book too. I also haven't been able to stop thinking about the book.

I am shocked at how much I LOVED KAA. I read it maybe 3 weeks ago and I have had a hard time jumping back into another book. I was sooo in that place that zone. I never thought of the circus as romantic but SEP made it happen.

Daisy was just soo lovable and sweet. I love the animal stories. What a cute image a baby elephant following her and Alex around.

One of my favorite scenes When Alex says We can get you a dog if you want a pet and she says OH NO! I'm afraid of dogs! After she has been laying in a TIGERS CAGE

BRILLIANT

WE LOVE YOU SEP!

I really like KAA as much as you did. The only thing I'm confused about is, how can Alex burn things with his finger (don't know, if the translation is not so good...but this thing really confusing me)...I like the little elephant baby, that's so cute...it reminds me of the of the movie "Hatari".

I just finished reading this book a few days ago and loved it!!
I also wondered about the spontaneous combustion ability Alex seemed to possess, and kept waiting for some sort of explanation.

kaa is my FAVORITE sep book. i'm all about daisy. she's my all-time favorite female character. i love her strength and will. she never gave up, and when she was close to it, she found that strength and will deep inside her to keep on going.

i hate alex for hurting her, i still can't get over him to me, he's one of the most all-time jerks from sep books, but his jerkiness only made my daisy stronger...so i guess i can KINDA forgive him for that. i still think she forgave him too easily.

i've read this book so many times, i practically know it by heart and right now i'm listening to it for the first time on audiobook. i think i prefer reading it that listening to it. i just can't seem to laugh, get mad or cry while i listen to it. i like feeling all those raw emotions when i read a book. i guess listening to them is just a bonus

I didn't think Alex was as much of a jerk as some of the other men in SEP's books. I actually liked him. To me, most of the time the things that he did that hurt her were just him being -what he thought was- honest about his feelings towards her.
I think that of all of the men in her books Cal was the biggest jerk. I liked him, and I understood his motives, but I still thought he was a jerk. Ironically, he also reminds me a lot of my own husband, whom I adore. So, that's funny.

LIKE Alex had been abused
Dallie had lost a child
BUT CAL ? he was just pissed at HER.

Exactly! And then the way he treated Rachel in DALD I just wanted to smack him and tell him to mind his own business.

OMGOSH! you are right!!! I forgot his jackassedness
carried over to DALD. He was mean to her. VERY MEAN !
I think he is the ONLY male lead in a book I HAVE NOT LIKED.

Yeah didn't connect with that book or Him at ALL!

but now KAA : my all time fav I do not know why but it is the REAL RAW EMOTION OF IT THAT GETS ME EVERY TIME

THere is something about the way
He is once Daisy comes back and she is broken and wont talk THAT GETS ME IN THE GUT everytime.

at the end he had sex with her and she didn't even respond or move and he felt he raped her.... OMG WOW amazing writing

You don't get that kind of honesty with many Authors SEP is not afraid to bet raw and real. Her Books are not all sugary sweet.

Oh, I liked him too. I can honestly say I genuinely like all of SEP's heros, I just thought he acted like an ass sometimes and I kept thinking that someone needed to knock some sense into him. <g> But, now that I think about it I read DALD before I read NBBM so that may have influenced my opinion.

I can't tell you how many email I"ve gotten going on and on about the Stars series and how I can't end it. Then...the readers will say, "And KAA is my favorite book!" Too funny. That book resonates with a LOT Of readers, and I remember not liking it while I was writing it. Go figure.

Of course I loved the Stars books -- I think just about everyone does. But there's something about the tortured hero -- the one who carries so much emotional baggage but manages to overcome it-- that touches my heart. Alex definitely falls into that category as does Gabe from DALD. I think that's why KAA and DALD are my two favorites.

This book really touched me like few books I've read before and I majored in Literature! I am a former "circus broad" and I found it to be very accurate. SEP did her research! I wonder what mud show she studied? It brought back memories.

You've got to be kidding me! KAA is my favorite SEP book. LOL Alex is a jerk, but a lovable one!! He and Daisy reminds me of kids--always bickering! Hahaha, and moreover I love Alex when he yells "I'm sorry!" to Daisy. It's sooo cuteee!!!!! I imagine a kid not wanting to apologize but knows he has to say it, therefore he yells.. lol

Kiss An Angel is my all-time favorite romance novel. I've been a long time SEP fan and normally when a new book comes out, I read it super fast in a day - and then immediately pick it back up and start again at the beginning so I can catch all the quirky stuff.

I don't know if this review was specifically about KAA or not, but I remember reading reviews of SEP books on Amazon and one reader said "SEP books are the only books I can't read in public because people think I'm crazy for laughing out loud!" and it's so true!! The line from Nobody's Baby But Mine is the first one that comes to mine, when Jane removes all the marshmallows from Cal's Lucky Charms and he says "I'm married to a cereal killer!!" Too funny!

P.S. I'd also like to know, SEP, why you didn't like KAA as you were writing it? It's a fantastic book and all the little extras you added like the relationship with the animals and Heather, plus the touches of humor and despair...made it a very well written book. You don't follow the normal formula for romance novels, which is why I love them.

Does anyone else wish there was a more humiliating sense for Alexi in the end? I was thinking, he should have beg for the tiger in public. Maybe in front of the people taking the tiger, or the rest of the circus. I think I would have more confidence that he would try Daisy the way she actually deserves for the rest of her life, like a lady that she is. Love Daisy. I felt like the sense was too short or too small to connivence me that he really loved Daisy. Just my option.

To me, I felt that he truly loved her. And no, in my opinion, he doesn't deserve a more humiliating scene than he already has by going down on his knees to Sheba. I don't think Daisy would like it too. I think by going down privately is already a HUGE humiliation toward Alex, because he was SOO PRIDEFUL; since his pride was everything to him. But yes, a longer story would've been lovely.

And to Dawn, although it's been a long while I'm not sure if you received my email from that one time because I never received a reply... but I'll post my answers here.

Hello Dawn. This is Yer. Sorry for such a late reply! (I've been busy with school.)

LOL, I can understand the frustration you go through when you finish a really good book, and is in need of discussing it with someone. None of my friends read...they just naturally don't like reading, so I'm by myself. Sighhh....

Very well, these are my answers to your questions:

What was your favorite part about KISS AN ANGEL?

My favorite part about KAA is the fact that Daisy and Alex matured and learned together—the lessons they lacked in their life—through their arranged marriage. Daisy was able to show Alex how to love (considering Alex's rough background, I understand why Alex felt that he was incapable of loving, because, I, too feel that in order to love someone you must be nurture with love as a child); and Alex was able to teach Daisy to grow up and be responsible, and look after herself. Moreover, seeing Alex change from a hard, prideful, and stubborn man to a tender, sweet and loving man was a wonderful transformation.

What made it your favorite book?

Because of KAA’s lighthearted tone, it's easy for me to read it continuously. When I'm stressed or frustrated about school or those little things in life, I can rely on KAA to take me into this totally unusual place that will make my heart ache and a tear may drop…all the while entertain me as well. In addition, Daisy is one of SEP’s heroines that motivates me to strive to do better in life (and to live life to the fullest) although it can be troublesome and grueling. Because in the story Daisy was naive and inexperienced in many aspects but the thing about her is: she never gives up. She is persistent! She’s also so optimistic about life and everything beyond her…totally the opposite of me, and she’s just…inspiring. Even when Alex declared that she get an abortion, she defies him with her escape which signifies her as a strong, independent woman who can take care of herself and her (unwanted) baby. This made KAA my favorite book.

How did you feel about ALEX in the beginning and the end of the book???

When I first read KAA I thought Alex was funny (in the beginning, of course! especially with his magic fires...). Then in the middle, I thought he was a real jerk (but I still had a soft-spot for him). Finally, at the end, I completely softened toward him particularly when he told her he loved her so much that he hurts, and if she really wants him to let her go he will do it for her happiness (it was such a heartrending scene! ).

Gawsh, I really think Daisy is like an angel sent down from heaven to cure Alex from his rough childhood and taught him love, made his life more optimistic. I love this book; it has romance, comedy, heartstrings, the circus!, and the animals. It’s such a cute, delightful book. I adore it, too.

Okay, just now, I reread the first question and thought maybe you might meant my favorite scene in the book? Well...honestly, there are quite a lot...but I'll probably have to go with the scene when they just arrived at the circus and Alex sarcastically asked Daisy if she wanted to be carry over the threshold, which Daisy took it seriously and Alex did carry her over the threshold. I thought that was extremely cute! and giggled every time I read that part. LOL

Dear All...at first, when I read the synopsis I thought no way Jose...this sounds corny as hell...the beginning was a bit hard to swallow and believe in (the weeding) and then I was HOOKED...Alexei is out of central casting and WONDERFUL....Daisy was initially hard to like for me at least, until her wonderful genuine kindness and decency poured through...Sheba was a hoot...and the interaction with the circus animals was terribly touching..
But getting back to Alexei...wowowowowowow...the classic male dominance profile of a surly sulky Russky male was captured with great brilliance...and the fact that he ended up being an art historian (so am I!) specializing in Russian art just blew me away...and I could go on and on and am re-reading it, which I rarely do ...brilliant, absolutely wonderful...and I haven't even gotten to how glorious the seduction scenes were to read....oh Ms Phillips...YOU ARE THE BEST!

I love this book! It was my first SEP book and then I couldn't remember the title or author when I went back to find it again so I had to do a search at all the local libraries for what it was about, it took me a few weeks, but I finally found it and have read it a good 6 times since then. I love her other books too, but this is my all time favorite!

Definitely my favorite SEP book!! I don't really know why I love this one so much since most of the story lines in the Chicago Stars books appeal to me more. I think it's the characters - Daisy and Alex are written so well. And I find Alex endlessly sexy.

Still waiting for someone to start a KAA casting thread so I can try and get a visual of him since no one I have seen so far seems to fit.

It was an extremely emotional book, which is probably why I enjoyed it a lot more than some of her other books. I loved the compassion she felt for the animals and how the tiger knew something was up and befriended her when she most needed someone to love.
Alex was sexy in everyway possible. But I didn't understand the whole setting objects on fire thing...I asked SEP about it once, but never really got a straight answer. Does that bother anyone else? Not that it matters...but it is a bit interesting. I like to just think it was a magic trick that he stopped using past the beginning...who knows?
I loved the way Alex acted after he accidentally hit Daisy with the whip in the ring. ...even though he deserved the cold shoulder...his sweetness about it and how he took care of her made my heart ache.
Tater made me giggle and I wanted to march up to Heather and give her a piece of my mind for being a bratt! Over all....fantastic work SEP!

I agree with you.. that scene is my all time favorite scene in a romance novel. When he is carrying her back and I believe his first words are something like "I have money... and he just starts spewing everything out that she has been asking him... It just makes me cry.. MY stomach hurts... I JUST LOVED THIS STORY.

Heather was only a brat because of her situation, Lucy was a brat too and we all love her. KAA is my #1 Fav SEP Book. I have to admit, that since Heather was finding herself there at the end and kind of had a mother figure in Sheba, I would love to know the end of her story. Did she stick it out in the circus? Find true love on the road? Find a place to settle down and not be a gypsy any longer? Find a rooted guy and up root his life?

This story has so much heart and honesty, and takes you out of the norm. I could read it once a week and never tire of it. I liked it a bunch when I first read it and loved it more with the reread. Although the same happened with IHTBY and THOM.
