It's interesting - I think a lot of readers who read the Eclipse Bay Trilogy when it was first released loved it, myself included. It's listed as one of my top 10 favourite series, in fact upon a recent re-read, I found that I loved it just as much as I did when I first read it.
However, those who are only discovering the books now, are not as in love with the trilogy as the rest of us are. I think it might just be the fact that the books feel dated. The reason I still love this book now is because it helped shape my idealogies of love and relationships (I was 18 when I first read it) and so much of that idealogy still resonates within me.
