This is a hard one...From the top of my head, I'll have to say my fav scene is at the end of Heaven, Texas, the confrontation between Way and Bobby-Tom, followed by Bobby-Tom's realization of what he was doing to his mother by not giving his blessing. However, the scene that gets me all tense, and worried like is when Way makes Suzie play his companion, and the whole bathtub scene. I recently heard Anna Field's read it, and wow, I was literally holding my breath waiting for the shoe to drop. I think what gets me is that it really deals with the issues of widowhood. I can't imagine spending a life-time loving somebody, and then learning to move on...
My other favourite scene is from THOM, with Kevin and the baseball game, and how he wondered if his daughter would have been like Hannah; actually any scene with Kevin thinking about Sarah makes me cry. It makes parenting sound so magical...loving someone so intensely, yet not really knowing them...
There are so many scenes, it's so hard to narrow it down...
Oh, the other one that really got to me was with Riley, Jack, and Dean, and the whole suicide thing. WOW! That whole thing hit too close to home for me, and I think SEP wrote it all out so beautifully. I mean, how does one react to a child's talk about death and suicide, when the child really doesn't understand what she is talking about, or understand the gravity of it all.
