"Super Bowl Game Thoughts..."

I always want the team from the Midwest to win, so I was technically cheering on the Colts. Except I cheered for the Saints the whole game. It was hard not to. Purdue produced another great quarterback. Yeah, Boilers!

What is it about the 'underdog' that pulls at us?????? I LOVED seeing Drew Brees after the game holding his son. You could see him telling him he loves him with tears in his eyes. Wasn't that just the GREATEST?????

AND, don't forget that their head coach, Sean Payton, is from NAPERVILLE!!! Woo Hoo Naperville!!

I was also cheering on the Saints because I wanted the Colts to lose, because they beat the Bears in 07.

I think he is a fine looking man with his blue steal look he had going on throughout the game! Plus I like that he took the Gatorade bath like a champ rather then some coaches that grumble and get mad.

I have mixed emotions....the Saints played so dirty when they played the Vikings...going for Brett Favre's knees, that it was hard to root for them.

that said, when Drew whats his name was holidng his little boy at teh end of the game, I wilted.

In sports you always go for a players weakness, if you're not doing that you're are not trying hard enough, it's mean and nasty but it's also smart.

You know I was thinking the same thing... I'm pretty sure that everyone here in Texas was going for the Saints.

Except for "those people" you know the ones... they go for the other team just to start something with everyone else but..
end up changing their mind after their team loses and they insist "well I was actually going for this team the whole time..."

right...

I watched the entire game. A first for me and I have to say I was bored out of my mind. I really don't like watching sports on tv. I even watched the halftime for the first time and was bored yet again. I kept thinking, "this is what the hype is all about?" It was like watching a concert on tv...which is what it was I guess. And the worst part is that in Canada they broadcast Canadian commercials over top of the American ones and so we don't get to see the great ads!!!

Although I'm glad others enjoyed it including my DH apparently.

I was a Saints fan all the way, but love Payton Manning too! We watched the whole game...but put it on pause during half time to have dinner, then zipped through it...couldn't take watching 'them'.

I just wished our dear friend was alive to see it...HIS TEAM in the Super Bowl and to win it too? Had an email from his son and his wife this morning. They went outside their house and yelled and cheered with all their neighbors....then went and stood in line to get the Saints T-shirt when it was ready.

Another Cowboys fan here. Well, more of a Texan's fan. But don't tell my husband I said that.

I'm happy with the outcome. I wanted Manning to win, but rooted for the Saints as a team.
Great game.

rooting for the Saints all the way. Agreed that Carrie sung fabulously well and yeah she should have sung half time. Those old geezers The Who, screeching half time show was embarrassing. They sounded just awful. If they are going to bring out the old guys, pls make sure they can still carry a tune.

I have to defend the Who for my generation. Yeah, their voices are a little rusty, but the music and light show were great and Pete Townshend still plays fantastic guitar.

Don't forget that these "old geezers" are one of the reasons for the term "rock stars" and they were among the first to have big production rock concerts and light shows. They also pioneered the first rock opera, Tommy. Quadrophenia is a classic with some incredible, breakthough music.

So give us older people a break for enjoying the music that we loved. We're just happy that our guys are still singing.

LOL Caroline, I think you are assuming I am younger than you. Which I maybe, but probably not by much. I have nothing against the Who. But they sounded awful last night during the half time show. Straining to hit the notes with a flat delivery. I could never say the same about U2, Bruce, Sting, Neil Young or the Rolling Stones because they can still deliver the goods. I respectfully disagree with you on this one. I do agree on the light show however, uber cool.

Today is my first day posting - I usually just read along. But I had such an SEP moment today! There is a picture of Drew Brees and his wife and child at the Super Bowl on the aol splash page that looks like it should be a cover of a Chicago Stars book. What a cute family.

I was definatly cheering the Saints, half because as a New England "fan" (I sort of hate the current Patriots team, they're not the same) I am in the "I hate Payton" anti fan club. Also I secretly like Keeping up with the Kardashians, and Kim and Reggie Bush are on again.
