"Name the fundraising event!"

A good friend of mine is a fabulous artist. She tells compelling stories through art. She's done work on suicide, women's relationships with their bodies, etc. http://www.mnartists.org/artistHome.do?rid=147682 I've asked her to tell homeless youths' stories....urban, rural, and suburban. First, we want to appeal to everyone's learning styles, so this is a good way for visual folks to hear the homeless teen story. Secondly, we will format the art into booklets to send to state legislators when a bill for homeless teens comes up for vote again in 2011. In October, another lovely lady is hosting an event in her home to raise money to pay for the art and, once they exceed that amount, proceeds will go to Teens Alone. We'll have about 80 people in a lovely home, viewing the art and telling the story of homeless youth. So, where would I come for brilliance? This board, of course. Can you help us NAME THE EVENT?? thank you! |

So the title is for the event in the woman's home, right? YES I keep thinking of Bon Jovi, Shot through the Heart, except Shot through the Art, but it has nothing to do with the event! Art for Suburban Homeless Teens Wrap our arms around suburban homeless teens Keep 'em safe and in school! Could it have been you? They're still children That's all I've got...hope it conjures up something great |

A Way of Living: The art of Teens Alone Home is Where the Art Is Also, there is a quote by Georgia O'Keefe, that I think might be appropriate, somehow:
"I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for." Have to ruminate of this one.... LisaA in Washington state

Oooh, I like the O'Keefe quote too! From the top of my very tired head, the best I could come up with is: Don't Paint Me Into A Corner or Painted Into a Corner Paint It Black - though you may have royalty issues over that title... Shaded Colour or Colour in the Shades - referring to the shade and shelter Teens Alone provides I think the art work and the women hosting it is super-awesome! Wishing you all the best of success! - Amal |

Some titles to ponder... Throw your art (arms) around me. Art burn ApART Portrait of our youth Still Life Sketches ------------------------------------ Some quotes to ponder... Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Pablo Picasso To send light into the darkness of men's hearts - such is the duty of the artist. Robert Schumann Art, in itself, is an attempt to bring order out of chaos. Stephen Sondheim I cry out for order and find it only in art. Helen Hayes If we could but paint with the hand what we see with the eye. Honore de Balzac Art is not a study of positive reality, it is the seeking for ideal truth. John Ruskin Art is the desire of a man to express himself, to record the reactions of his personality to the world he lives in. Amy Lowell The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance. Aristotle Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable. George Bernard Shaw Efy (long-winded in Sydney) |
