I'm about number 200 on the hold list at the library, but I just saw thta she is going to be in town this week. Not just in Seattle but actually at my local B&N. I think it's the only night I don't have something going on this week so I suspect I will probably go see her. I went to see Jill Conner Brown (?) the Sweet Potato Queen last week just because it's a cultural phenomenon. I have the Big Ass Cookbook which is a hoot and she was everything I expected and Much, Much More.

I have enjoyed her last single title books, especially The Villa and Birthright. Northern Lights sounds interesting; and of course I love the JD Robb books.

she is? wow, how did i miss that one? let me guess...she's coming on wednesday right?
i saw the book at the grocery store the other day and it looks great. i haven't enjoyed some of her more mainstream romance lately, but this one sounds very interesting. i'll probably have to look into getting it from teh library one of these days.

Turned out I had the wrong night for my meeting last night and since I was in the car already I decided to go by B&N to see if there was any chance to find a place to park. I wanted to see her and hear what her voice was like. She's littler and prettier than her book photos. Her photos always make her look like she has a receeding chin and an overbite, IMHO. But she's darling, and her voice is just what I expected. She's obviously very experienced at this book tour thing. Glad I went but they had tickets for the signing line and I didn't feel that motivated and needed to go home and pay bills.

She's very generous. I've been to a signing before and she stayed until every last person got a smile and a signature. She was hoarse and everything. I refused to stand in line, but it was only 3 people by the time I was leaving the building anyway.

I'm always an hour early to all local book signings. I get paranoid and want an early ticket. Even for Tess Gerritsen where only 30 people showed up, they gave out tickets. Jennifer Weiner, they didn't, but they probably should have because it was totally unorganized (different, small bookstore).

Sounds like you had fun, though.

Glad you got to see Nora. I'm planning on going myself when she swings by my area on Wednesday. I'm going early to get a ticket.

Kelsey, I know what that's like; I fall asleep on the couch with my glasses pressed against my nose almost every night. DH asked me to start reading in bed because he's getting backaches from carrying me to bed every night. Poor baby! Hee Hee!

How funny! My boyfriend said when he came to check on me last night tha I was sound asleep on my stomach with my face being a bookmark. Plus I am obsessed with the foodnetwork (the BEST channel ever) and he said it was blaring. Usually I am a very light sleeper and I never moved an inch while he turned every thing off and took my book pillow away!

OMG You love Alton Brown too! He is hilarious. The way that he hosts that show is so interesting. I like Rachel Ray too. $40 a day and her 30 min meals. What a great network! I'm hungry just thinking about it!

Actually, her anthologies were really re-releases of her previous category books so it's understandable you felt that way. In general, I think her strength is her trilogies though I know a lot who like her single-title books. I don't prefer the intrigue/suspense, but I loved Birthright and a few other titles. I'm on Chapter Three of Northern Lights and am surprised that it's taken so long to read the heroine, but she has her first mention on the page I just finished. I'm just too tired to concentrate now. So far so good.

I went to Nora Roberts's husband's bookstore last weekend. It was a great, little day trip. I picked up Northern Lights and the hardcover of Birthright on clearance. I'm looking forward to Blue Dahlia next month, the start of her next trilogy.

Love to discuss Northern Lights when you finish.

Ok, that makes a ton more sense if they were anthologies. I was always waiting for more and it just never came up to par. I did love her chesapeak bay triology!

I'm somewhere around page 200 now. Only 362 left to go! I am making very slow progress, as I haven't had enough time to read recently. I'm enjoying it, but for some reason I'm not as engaged in it as I was in Birthright. I feel like I could put it down at any time. And I'm not too into the heroine.

Kim I know how you feel. I don't know if it is because I am sick or what but this just feels like it is taking me forever to read. I'm only at the chapter right after their first kiss. Not very far at all!

Kim did you ever finish this? I swear it is taking me forever. I'm having a hard time getting into it. last night I only read a chapter and then decided to put it down until this weekend...which is very unlike me. Usually I try to read the book as fast as I can because I always want to know what is going to happen!

KW, I was so slow-going with this book until it got to the suspenseful parts, and then I finally picked up speed. I really haven't read a book that long since Harry Potter! I just finished it on Thursday. Did you finish it over the weekend? Let me know what you think of it. I liked it, but not as much as I liked Birthright. All the characters in the town were great, though. I really felt their sense of community.

Oh, I definitely agree with you about trying to read a book as fast as I can--I always do that too, but not with this one. Not in the mood, I guess.

There are some new books coming out today, so I'll be picking them up soon. NR's Blue Dahlia (her new In the Garden trilogy), Adele Ashworth's Duke of Sin, and Lisa Kleypas's Secrets of a Summer Night. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Northern Lights after you finish it!

Adele Ashworth and Lisa Kleypas weren't in yet when I went. Well, I couldn't remember the title of Lisa Kleypas's so I'm not sure it wasn't in. I did pick up Blue Dahlia and put down Northern Lights to read it. So far, I am enjoying it a lot.
